The oil leaked out of the cracked crankcase. As to why it cracked, honestly I don't remember. Unable to sync props, lots of vibrations then boom, big smoke.

Dammit, you guys inspired me to find an office with a view, or at least one with a view of less concrete. Now I just need to develop an eye and some skill like STL.

I took this pic when I was on the ramp at Buffalo airways. Even a dog can fly a DC-4 so I knew that I'd be okay.

First of all great pictures throughout. What camera equipment are you using if you don't mind me asking?

Re: Pic from a swamper
Thanks RB,
Glad you enjoy them.
I'm shooting a Nikon D3 these days, variety of lenses, all top end glass. Some of the earlier shots were with a Canon 1D-MKII, and related lens suite. But it got stolen in Italy last spring.... SIlver lining in that was the new D3. Stunning camera.
Most shots are processed in Adobe Lightroom.

Thats about 80-90 miles southwest of CFS Alert. If I remember right.. we were up around 210 that time.

Sure gets a little lonely in the middle of nowhere!!

We pretty much always get up to 210 or 220.. only a couple of times have I tried to stagger to 230. But it will get there, unless we're fully loaded.

The view from last week!
Kinda miss being down low...

Like this low? (A re-post, but it works...!)

Re: Pic from a swamper
So where is that glacier? I never get that much detail as I'm always about a 1000' higher, but it reminds me of behind Garibaldi mtn.

It's actually right on the US border about 20nm from Stewart, BC.
Leduc Glacier to be exact. Just taken with a point and shoot - setting the timer was a bitch.....

Sounds like you get a little x-c time in those whirly birds of yours. Somehow I thought you stayed with few hundred of YPW. Other then photography, what did they have you doing that took you so close to the glacier? It is quite the pic, almost enough to make a fixed winger jealous...

STL - don't make me hate my decision to try out the ifr world any more than I already do. I'll be back low and slow very soon though.

Just checkin up on the other machine... I was a lil behind schedule..
