The oil leaked out of the cracked crankcase. As to why it cracked, honestly I don't remember. Unable to sync props, lots of vibrations then boom, big smoke.

Dammit, you guys inspired me to find an office with a view, or at least one with a view of less concrete. Now I just need to develop an eye and some skill like STL.

I took this pic when I was on the ramp at Buffalo airways. Even a dog can fly a DC-4 so I knew that I'd be okay.

First of all great pictures throughout. What camera equipment are you using if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks RB,

Glad you enjoy them.

I'm shooting a Nikon D3 these days, variety of lenses, all top end glass. Some of the earlier shots were with a Canon 1D-MKII, and related lens suite. But it got stolen in Italy last spring.... SIlver lining in that was the new D3. Stunning camera.

Most shots are processed in Adobe Lightroom.

We pretty much always get up to 210 or 220.. only a couple of times have I tried to stagger to 230. But it will get there, unless we're fully loaded.

The view from last week!

Kinda miss being down low...

So where is that glacier? I never get that much detail as I'm always about a 1000' higher, but it reminds me of behind Garibaldi mtn.

It's actually right on the US border about 20nm from Stewart, BC.

Leduc Glacier to be exact. Just taken with a point and shoot - setting the timer was a bitch.....

Sounds like you get a little x-c time in those whirly birds of yours. Somehow I thought you stayed with few hundred of YPW. Other then photography, what did they have you doing that took you so close to the glacier? It is quite the pic, almost enough to make a fixed winger jealous... :|
