We are also told zero influenza going around so those covid cases are just taking the influenza beds.
I happen to know enough people working in hospitals to know the reality is not what the media pushes. Sure some local spots got busy. For most things look normal.
Please post some evidence. I had a look and didn't see any previous research or news stories about ICUs filling up during flu season:

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba ... -1.4470468
Pressure on hospitals, but no mention of ICUs (other than 2 new cases sent to ICU in one week).
I will post my proof when you post your proof that closing golf courses reduced icu numbers in Ontario.
Every flu season ICUs fill up. There's been lots of media headlines posted in the threads here. You are just distracting us from the important questions.
What's most important is are the government measures effective. Based in the effectiveness is it an appropriate amount of freedoms we have to give up? And why are those who are vaccinated still told they have to follow these policies.
I really don't care if the flu never overwhelmed icus. That would be irrelevant to the questions above. If policy is not very effective it should not become policy.
For example, it would be safer if airlines flew with zero carryon baggage. One could argue we would save lives. However what is the risk? What's the reward? It's not policy because the chance we need to evacuate will be minimal. And it won't likely make the difference. The current covid policy is huge over reach and just like my carry on bag examples many of the policy implemented don't make much sense. Why do you need to get 3 covid tests and still quarantine for 14 days when you fly in internationally?
So distract all you want, but it's completely dumb and you are not asking the right questions.
