Haha, some of those are either BS, or entirely NavCanada.
"surges in demand". Shouldn't that mean they'd be able to run at capacity?
"personnel resourcing". Surely it's not CATSA's fault NavCanada is having issues with personnel resources.

Ok then, so tell me what does CATSA have to do with anything regarding this?

Who called in b*mb threat on the control tower today across Canada? People are very upset right now about it.

NavCanada is trying to deflect responsibly. Their statement mentions "...security screening services...", among other reasons. CATSA has nothing to do with ATC delays, but they're hoping we believe their deflection.16SidedOffice wrote: ↑Thu Jul 03, 2025 10:36 am Ok then, so tell me what does CATSA have to do with anything regarding this?

Lineups to get through security and your flight simply leaves without you. The ATC delays are 100% from not having enough people in the system to fill the seats.

I wonder when Nav will sort there shit out, does anyone know if there are enough recruits in the pipleline to meet demand in a year or two?goingnowherefast wrote: ↑Tue Jul 01, 2025 8:27 am Haha, some of those are either BS, or entirely NavCanada.

That's the big question as there are still a TON of controllers in the system with 30+ years in and can go at any time.newlygrounded wrote: ↑Sun Jul 06, 2025 8:43 pm

How do other country motivate their ATC organization to push tin? I don't know if you travelled recently but it is a disaster that must be costing airlines millions daily. This country seems to just keep getting worse and destined to fail.

The question is, will the two guys in YVR that fail 32 out of every 33 IFR candidates for BS reasons still be allowed to run their little fiefdom and maintain double time for everyone else with their power?newlygrounded wrote: ↑Sun Jul 06, 2025 8:43 pm I wonder when Nav will sort there shit out, does anyone know if there are enough recruits in the pipleline to meet demand in a year or two?
Re: CBC coverage- Pilot’s frustrated ATC rant
Can you give some specific examples of these BS reasons?

Can you please let the media know this? Or post the info here and I will write to some reporters.

Re: CBC coverage- Pilot’s frustrated ATC rant
The YVR ACC is the worst kept secret in all of Canadian aviation. Everyone I work with knows someone who made a year into their training with Navcanada and then promptly got fired for something trivial at the YVR ACC. And every long weekend, or sunny day, or Christmas, a handful of controllers all call in sick and several people rake in double time. They all take turns, the traveling public all suffer and nobody ever does anything about it. YYC ALWAYS has staff shortages during Stampede. It's a racket pure and simple. As long as it sort of works sometimes, and nobody dies, nobody will ever do anything about it.itsgrosswhatinet wrote: ↑Thu Jul 10, 2025 5:52 pmCan you please let the media know this? Everyone that I knew that was ever CT'd from the center, the public is safer for it. A year into training isn't much in the big scheme of things when training IFR.
Re: CBC coverage- Pilot’s frustrated ATC rant
If the failure rate is close to 100% that’s a failure of training and recruiting.
I’ll also guess the NAV Can system is shit compared to other countries. Europe “you’ll be conflicting with a DHL 757 in 53 minutes 12 miles past DINKU. Speed .78 or less”
Canada “turn right 40 degrees for traffic”

It seems like a lot of companies are having recruiting problems these days. I wonder what happened.

People grew wise? A lot of jobs were bad enough when it came to life changes (ex have a friend sent to Kenora by NC) but when you have to wait years to apply AND they might just lay you off at a moments notice people won't put up with all of the above

Huh. You mean that taking hard working, capable and smart people (you need to be to be a controller), then treating them like crap and being surprised there aren't lots of applicants?newlygrounded wrote: ↑Tue Jul 22, 2025 12:53 pmPeople grew wise? There's a shortage of smart and capable people in society. They have their pick of careers. Be a desirable employer, or be left behind.

That particular Captain said on the PA, what most Pilots think. The PA shouldn't be used as a soap box, but that is my opinion.
Last year at the "Take Your Kid to Work Day" there was the usual tour of the VR Tower. During the tour the Controller announced the following to the group of grade 9 kids.
"Take a look around, no one in this room made under $400,000 last year"
So that puts a VFR Tower Controller out earning 99.9999% of Professional Pilots in this Country.

You're comparing a controller's salary with a substantial amount of OT with a pilot's base salary. No shortage of pilots picking up every OT pairing they can and cracking 400k.Stu Pidasso wrote: ↑Fri Jul 25, 2025 12:43 pm That particular Captain said on the PA, what most Pilots think.
