That's two years of University. Something to consider.

Realistically, that's one year of university. Once you start looking at living expenses, books, lab fees, and the fact that you earning power is much reduced if you're focusing on school....$10K will just about cover 1 year if you're single.

Depends what faculty. However you are right, I wasn't including the other costs of education - only tuition. And it was only a simple comparison to the 208 bond. We wont delve into "reduced earning power" here. I mean, that should be a f***ing walk in the park for any pilot

At least when you pay for a year of university you have something to show for it, ie. wild parties, hangovers, university girl ass, etc. When you pay $10,000 for a ppc which does not exist, all you get is to feel like an ass. There in lies the difference.

the $10 000 right seat caravan bond, can an employee at the company right now confirm this?? Is this completely for real???

Lord help the young lad who paid that, that his peers and collegues never catch wind of this....

If you are that hard up for a job you'd be better to spend a bit more and go to Flight Safety get a left seat PPC and go work for a proper company.
The title of this thread implies Alta Flights is in iminent danger of going tits up but no-one has offered any information to lead us to believe that is true. I am certainly no fan of AF and if it was true it wouldn't surprise me one bit but AF has been in trouble for a while now and they are still flying I've been hearing them out there all week. Lets get some facts on the table.

requiem for alta flights

For all of you who honestly believe it, (and those of you who are maliciously spreading it), BW was not responsible for the final AF bag run bid.
The final bid was put in by a person who would not understand aviation if a B747 flew up his ass.
And yes, if you treat people like shit......then all you get is shit.

Good one snaproll!

Why is it so difficult for some people to recognize that you ultimately get in return what you give.

The $10000 thing is unbelievable. i believe in fair agreements, but a right seat caravan check out should only cost about $2000.00, if that.

$10,000???? seriously, i mean WTF? sim course costs $5,200 USD. Travel and accomodatoin costs: $1200 USD. PPC training in company aircraft: $1500 USD. that is $7900 USD for a captain's PPC and full sim training and generous per diems while on course. I can't think that a right seat PCC with no sim training should cost anywhere close to that.

a 208 right seat:

3hrs flight time
company ground school

that in my mind can't in any way possible cost $10,000. You could fly out bob hoover and have him teach and do the training for less than that for gods sake.

Well no matter what is said in this forum, the damage has been done for alta flights and IMHO beyond repair. EVERY place you go , meaning FBO's, parts supply stores, etc no one likes dealing with alta flights just because of their credit. Beyond that employees or ex-employees and not to impressed with this company. To the point this company is basically doomed.

and let's not forget all the lay off's happening right now....some guys know for a fact that they are going to be layed off, but who knows when??? they keep working and wating for the day, but it just get's stretched out even more, what a way to live. None of them want to quit because of unemployment, it's like having cancer -- it's gonna kill you, but when??

I knew a bunch of the pilots there, and i can't name more then two that were happy --- and yes they were fairly new.
