Re: Sunwing expands like a mofo!
Dave, perhaps you have some truth in your post last year. However, I can assure you that crew sked is not a problem at Sunwing any longer. I will speak for myself, but the new manager has turned things around in a hurry and it is a pleasure to deal with them.
I cannot even begin to explain to you how good my flying schedule is at Sunwing, you would choke if you saw it.
That being said, winter is coming and it will get busier, but whatever you heard from last year is a thing of the past in my opinion.
WRC - What the hell does a pilot that was at Royal or Jetsgo have to do with the sustainability of a vacation tour operator? This most certainly is not Jetsgo, trust me.

Hey no worries bud. I was talking to an old friend of mine I just ran into recently and all he was complaining about was the crew scheduling, this was 2 weeks ago. He is a captain and maybe it's different fo Fo's. I personally don't care as I've said and I sure hope things have/are changing, that's great to hear. Cheers.

Re: Sunwing expands like a mofo!
I have had no issues with scheduling nor have I ran into anyone with any complaints. Not suggesting it is flawless. I know the training Captains are extremely busy and will continue to be busy for some time to come. As for the regular line-pilot I can't see anyone complaining unless they wish they were flying more. As far as "not being well run" it goes against everything I have seen so far. I have not had any last minute schedule changes or delays because of crewsched, dispatch, maintenance or otherwise poor planning. Anytime a new flight release has been required for example it ususally shows up right now and delays are avoided. Not saying it is perfect, but at the moment the gears seem to be well greased. Hope it stays that way!

This type of thing has been tried in Canada in the past. It hasn't worked before, I see no reason why it should now.
Sub Par wages? try 300 000$ for some of the 737 captains! AND ex-strippers as FAs
...yeah...I don't have the energy to tell you people how many times history repeats itself...over and over again...
Three things to do here...
1. read a little.
2. save your money.
3. have a nap.

Re: Sunwing expands like a mofo!
Again... the whole expansion is being taken somewhat out of context and this is my last attempt at explaining it.
Sunwing currently operates 3 aircraft. We take delivery of our 4th in February. Next summer we will have 4 airplanes. However for the winter season we are operating up to 15 airplanes. Last winter we were up to 9. To the best of my knowledge most new hires are flight attendants, the rest other support staff for the busy season. Next spring there will undobtedly be plenty of lay-offs, especially flight attendants. If further agreements are entered into with other European carriers as hinted at in one of the articles (we still have two in place) most or all pilots will keep their job..... if not there will be lay-offs. That said I have been through 3 door closures and several lay-offs and will for the rest of my career, regardless of where I work, wake up every morning expecting to turn on the news or open the paper to find myself jobless. Welcome to the Circus Aviation, the best entertainment show going.... you never know whats coming next!
