707 kt groundspeed

Well if you think that you can land a da40 in a 100kt wind by chopping the power and turning into the wind, you really are a hero.
Firstly, nice flight school you got there... chopping power.
Secondly, did you plan to approach with throttles closed ABOVE 100kts?? Or, did you plan to land going backwards??
You WERE bs'ing, and that's why I called you on it.
ps. Am I the only one that thinks going 300kph on a bike on public roads is idiotic?

I didn't say there was a 100 kt wind. 150-170 isn't uncommon in the circuit, it's actually really easy with the 40's.
Who said anything about a Flightschool.
Don't worry about it I'll try to take a pic for you next time.
You sound like a mall cop, high five.
Yeah that wasn't smart, I'll keep it on the track from now on.
Take it easy

First off, the 250 kts below 10,000 rule has nothing to do with groundspeed. Secondly, what kind of shear do you think you could expect as you decend out of a 100 kt wind while in close proximity to the ground? Chopping the power would be a stupid move as the DA40 has very little energy reserve.Federally wrote:jigglybus,
easy, fine.
possible, fine.
What does Vno of 129 have to do with 230, and what does 1000' have to do with it...you can be at a higher alt and any speed under 250 kts under 10,000 in the Zone. And 230 GS isn't a great achievement as its not true....like SR71 said. Oh and for landing being the real accomplishment---try chopping the power and turning into the wind, funny how things slow down.
As for the 280kph, I was only telling you what the speedo reads.....sure there is some error as its a digital readout. As for what I was doing at that speed on public roads? Trying to keep up to a Busa on the 401 at 5am.
As a fellow biker, guys who race around at 280 kph, no matter what time of day, only drive insurance rates up for the rest of us. Thanks very much.
London Ontario eh?
Not a filght school?
So then you work for Diamond?
I wonder how they would feel about your 150-170 (41kt above Vno) in the circuit. Or you lack of knowledge regarding limts on IAS below 10,000.
Or better yet, about your chopping power and turning into the wind policy.
Food for thought.

It was more like a 50 kt wind at 3000.
I did admit the 301 on the bike was stupid and said I would save it for the track....I haven't had anything to do with insurance going up, that's the government letting companies do what they please and approve insurance companies increases when they submit them.
I'm going to shut up now before we get into anymore pointless ramblings.
Everyone can continue posting their experiences.

Sorry I used to live in London, I live south of the boarder now.
I don't work for Diamond thanks So I don't think they would care.
What the hell does speed above Vno matter when in smooth air.
Do you have a Instructor rating by any chance?
Maybe you can teach me a few things.
Take it easy gents
