As I've said before, I support the movement to end vaccine mandates to ensure that people don't lose their jobs over it.
(Basically the freedom to choose. I chose to be vaccinated because... thousands of medical professionals can't be wrong).
What I DO NOT support is:
- Breaking the law
- Blocking vital infrastructure
- Idiotic ideas about changing governments. (That's done through a thing called "voting")
While I understand their frustration and the "I got nothing left to lose" attitude, blocking the Ambassador Bridge is not the way to go. That's no longer a peaceful protest.
LaAgreed.
Sorry boys….own up to it. You supported a movement whose obvious goal from the beginning was a willingness to create an economic collapse, all that after the group’s actions(or inaction) has led to massive health cost to people with delayed and cancelled surgeries.
As far as I’m concerned, you should be ashamed of yourselves.

100% this. Many here backed this movement. Now that they're indefensible, nobody wants to admit they donated money to them in the first place.
You can't put the toothpaste back in the tube. All you can do is clean up the mess.

Your comment is absurd and uncalled for. I can't even dignify that with a reply.

It's safe to say more surgeries have been delayed and cancelled in the past 2 years due to covid restrictions, than in the last 2 weeks due to some trucker blockades.
And no, blocking borders and major highways is not good.
Don't be suprised that if you call people terrorists and neonazis, that eventually you might get your wish and some might start to behave that way.
It's not right, it's not legal and I don't approve of it. But I do understand their side of things.

Yet you just did.
Maybe because your behaviour has been undignified.

Ashamed? Anything but.
Over the few decades that I've lived on this pale blue dot, whenever I'm faced with a tough moral dilemma, I run it through my "death bed regrets" test. "When on my death bed, will I regret the choice I've made?"
In this circumstance (supporting the Rights and Freedoms of fellow citizens) it's a no brainer in my books. I'll never the regret supporting the core intent of our Charter Rights.

I supported this movement. The economic damage from the 2 weeks of protests/blockades pales in comparison to the economic damage from the past 2 years of restrictions by the government. Time to move on and get everyone back to work and enjoy life again. I understand some of the restrictions early on but shutting down businesses and vax passports for a runny nose? Come on!
It seems that some people are either "all in" or "all out". There is no middle ground anymore.
One can support the "the freedom of people to work without having a mandated vaccine" and "freedom to protest", without supporting those that block key infrastructure or any other illegal activities. And one can also step away from supporting a cause once it degenerates into something it wasn't meant to be. (And I'm afraid, this protest did degenerate into just that.)
Have we become a country of "absolutes"? "You're either with us, or against us?"
- "Yes, I am for your right to choose what medical procedures you get, but I'm NOT okay with you blocking the Ambassador Bridge"
- "Yes, I am for prosecuting those that committed crimes, but I'm NOT okay with some politicians labeling everyone at the protest in Ottawa "criminals".
That's how we ended up with Trudeau (on the far left) and Trump (on the far right). Common sense, middle ground are no longer part of our vocabulary as a society. It's pretty sad actually. I've always considered myself a pretty center guy. I take what's good from the conservative values and what's good from the liberal values.
Trudeau isn’t far left. He’s centre left. Left of Trudeau is the NDP, and the Greens.. and fringe parties like the Communists.
The problem is we see almost everything through the lens of the US where they consider anything less than shooting the poor for sport as left wing. Biden is centre right. Bernie was centre left.

Those who constantly are lying, misrepresenting, and gaslighting — should be the ones ashamed of themselves.
I certainly am not. Not a word.

Beyond bizzare. I could respond but will not bother. Not worth my time.

Twenty years from now you'll be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the things you did do.

Leger surveyed 1,546 people between Feb. 4 and Feb. 6 and found that, while 62 per cent of all respondents strongly or somewhat oppose the anti-mandate message of the Freedom Convoy protest, 44 per cent of those who are fully vaccinated said they could sympathize with “the concerns and frustrations being voiced by people involved in the trucker protest in Ottawa.” One third (32 per cent) of Canadians support the message conveyed by the protesters, who are calling for no vaccine mandates and fewer public health measures, while seven per cent are undecided.
I stand corrected. Subtract 62 from 100. Is that number greater than 62? No? There you go.
You do understand the numbers your are referencing in both cases can win an election, right?
I was going to respond along similar lines, but then decided I couldn't be bothered. It seems like she honestly thinks you need 50%+1 of the votes to win an election, in which case I can't help her.

Well sure 44% also makes a pretty great batting average which is equally relevant. If you imagine that the Venn diagram of non-Liberal voters and crybaby convoy supporters is a circle, you might be over-estimating a bit. That was my point in questioning your “we are united against him” hyperbole.

How long until Trudeau calls Liberal MP Joël Lightbound a racist for questioning government COVID policies?
Exactly. He was quick to throw Jody Wilson-R under the bus when she disagreed with him. That makes him to me — a misogynistic racist.
Yet he spoke vocally in favour of Indian farmers protesting against their government.
Hypocrisy! The Indian media has been scathing about this. How to make international friends JT!
Lets keep in mind how this all started.
JT / Singh called the 44% who have issues with the vaccine mandates “a small fringe minority with unacceptable views”, (many who are homophobic racist terrorist misogynistic islam haters). All documented by the media.
Thats what he thinks of 44% of Canadians.
Great Winston Churchill like leadership!
FACT.
Trudeau has lost the moral authority to govern. He is now spreading innuendo, threatening violence against the protestors AND the children with them. Fact.
He should step down and put the country first.
We are the laughing stock of the whole world. The foreign editorials — even by the leftist New York Times! — blistering.
He started this, deliberately trying to bait the protestors into violence, for cheap political gain.
End of story.
I communicated these thoughts to my Liberal MP’s office.
They told me they’ve been deluged with calls, essentially saying the same thing I am.

I called the conservative donation line today and identified myself. I then asked them to tell me how much I donated in the last year. After I was given the amount(which of course is tax deductible), I told him to pass on the message that they will never get another cent from me if they support lawlessness, which Pollievre rightly did not in the last blockade. He said he would pass on the message.

That's the kind of comment I'd see on avcanada, probably from Rookie. Not exactly promising. I was hoping for better after the last guy.

I got another spam last week from "amy from the conservative party", but google seems to know it's spam now, and just puts it into my spam folder automatically. You don't get people to donate by annoying them.
