Are you on glue? The whole point of these shows is to make everyday events seem like a cross between Mao's Cultural Revolution and going over Niagara Falls in a barrel.wan2fly99 wrote:Hope they don't dramatize it for TV.
While I'm sure most airshow pilots are level headed people, I'm equally sure the tv show isn't about to waste any time interviewing anyone who doesn't sound like they came straight out of WWF.
Re: New TV Series "Airshow"
Yeap probably they will do that. But those guys can fly for sure
Re: New TV Series "Airshow"
I know some of the performers.... It will be an entertaining show no doubt.

Will it get binned if someone links it here and the Colonel is in it?

The hardest thing about flying is knowing when to say no
After over a half a century of flying no one ever died because of my decision not to fly.

Re: New TV Series "Airshow"
Im guessing that in the abscence of airplane problems there will be no shortage of latrine, water , parking, crowd, sick people, weather, FAA, etc problems to dramatize which make up a large part of the complexities of running any aviation related event.

Like the clip with the Stearman going down with the wingwalker on the wing, and the announcer yelling "NOOOOO!"?wan2fly99 wrote:some real flying. Hope they don't dramatize it for TV.
Nah, they won't dramatize it at all.
Re: New TV Series "Airshow"
It will most likely be just like some of the threads on AVCANADA
...the odd useless points that are way over reacted to , over th top embellishment , comments that are taken way too seriously , very hyped and full of over the top drama

Re: New TV Series "Airshow"
I'm not really interested much (well ...maybe just a little) in watching the kind of flying that I'm never likely to do, starring people I don't know, flying airplanes I've never flown in or even seen up close. Ice Pilots comes as close to "reality" TV as I want to be. But hey, that's just me.
I always thought that Wings Over Canada started out with some promise, but it morphed from a show about grass-roots aviation into a show about big twins, Blue Angels and wine-tasting in Mexico.
Don't we have enough material (and characters!) here in Canada to produce a less-dramatized show about people who use their light airplanes for "real" stuff. Ski-flying, floatplanes, camps in the bush, hunting, fishing, all that good stuff?
On the other hand, maybe I'd be the only one watching. Reality is often (usually?) boring I suppose.

Yeah, I think they would struggle to get enough people to watch a show like that. Although I did like Flying Wild Alaska, and it wasn't too dramatized. I guess if you find interesting enough people, it will make interesting TV. Look at Dr Pol, or any number of those gold mining / duck hunting / alligator wrestling shows.NunavutPA-12 wrote: Don't we have enough material (and characters!) here in Canada to produce a less-dramatized show about people who use their light airplanes for "real" stuff. G'day
At least it was nice to see that Carol is going to be in it. She's crazy but in a lovable sort of way.
Cheers...Chris

Re: New TV Series "Airshow"
Just saw a trailer for the show but have not seen an episode
As I suspected this is going to be another boring "love in" for the RedBull and Aerobatic crowd.
Over the years , I have seen 1000's of Aerobatic routines and most are pretty much the same boring mundane routines that the average person cannot tell apart. Not trying to belittle anyones skill but at this point there is not much new happening with regards to aerobatics
Same goes for these scripted Red Bull events. I am told that Red Bull hires all the pilots and the results rotate so that the pilots all get a chance be the winner.
There are I am sure many people that enjoy air racing but I find it quite boring especially if it is a scripted event and not real competition.
The Airshow Industry can be really interesting behind the scenes so I hope the show will capture this but on the whole this will end up being another "Aviators' show (ho hum)
Its too bad that there is not a show that travels across N America visiting some of the amazing small grass roots aviation groups that are involved with really amazing projects etc .In a sense the everyday man/groups in aviation that achieve some really incredible goals with very limited resources.
