Re: Canadian pilot pay
If you feel like getting a little depressed, read the collective agreement for Air Georgian.
Here are some highlights (lowlights?):
- only 1% RRSP match after 5 years of service
- A and B scale wages for 704
- OT only paid after 100 hours
- No pay scale for RJ
- pay scale increases at 0.5% a year (inflation is around 2%, so every year the wage is worth less)
- provisions for getting contract pilots as they please

Re: Canadian pilot pay
Hey thanks everyone good to be back. I have also started a new site that will be doing this for pilots all over the world. I can't post a link because Avcanada doesn't like me doing that so you have to go to the site on your own.
I have received emails of support with information provided from companies directly, They are proud of their pay / working conditions and use my site as an extension of their HR department to attract talent others not so much....

Most 604 operators protect that information where possible. Towers Perrin did surveys but you had to be a participant to receive the reports. When they started, they included management companies. I asked they remove them as corporate and management are two different beasts. The race to the bottom must be stopped.
Re: Canadian pilot pay
Not surprised Air Georgian doesn't want that posted. I'd be embarrassed to have that contract shown too. I love the 1% RRSP match after 5 years and the 0.5% annual pay raise (cut)CdnPilotPay wrote:Hey thanks everyone good to be back. No wonder, I received an email demanding I pull the contract for copyright violation. I think I hit a sore spot.CanadianEh wrote:If you feel like getting a little depressed, read the collective agreement for Air Georgian.

Re: Canadian pilot pay
I have created an aircraft specific option so you can post aircraft type or just say midsized business jet with salary. Most of the information is in fact public, if you know where to look for it eg: Unions
Bare with me as I try to figure out the best format and layouts for the sites so things may switch around on you at times and i apologize for that but it will be for the greater good.
Would anyone join a CPP forum or is Avcanada to dominant in the that regard for it to be worth it?

Re: Canadian pilot pay
I`m pretty sure employment contracts can`t be copyrighted. JBI- Are you here?
Re: Canadian pilot pay
I think you would benefit greatly from having a lawyer just for your own protection. Case in point, why should you have to not post the air georgian contract if it is in fact not illegal to publish it? This kind of stuff might be a good reason to have a legal backing.CdnPilotPay wrote:I have created an aircraft specific option so you can post aircraft type or just say midsized business jet with salary. [Sigh] No, that's not the case. Here:CdnPilotPay wrote: I can't post a link because Avcanada doesn't like me doing that so you have to go to the site on your own.

It's advertising for this that AvCanada objects to..CdnPilotPay wrote:Would anyone join a forum or is Avcanada to dominant in the that regard for it to be worth it?
Say, what's that mountain goat doing up here in the mist?

It seems like a few weeks ago there were more details on the website then there are now. GGN isn't the only one that vanished.

I took down the .PDF documents that where embedded in a few companies pages, We will be updating to a uniform scale in a similar layout to the other ones. it really has more to do with page speed and SEO or may you be referring to the front page posts that where cleaned up.

Very generally speaking, and not a comment on this particular situation - ideas are not subject to copyright, but content is. So as an unrelated example, if someone summarizes what a book says, there's no copyright violation, but if someone copies a book word for word and then puts it online, there would be a copyright violation.Bede wrote:I`m pretty sure employment contracts can`t be copyrighted. (Why people do this when I, er I mean, an author only gets a couple bucks from the sale of my, um again I mean, his/her, relatively inexpensive book is confusing/frustrating)

Re: Canadian pilot pay
That's pretty ridiculous that Georgian bullied you into removing the contract from your website.
Union contracts are public information, that's why the government of Canada makes them available online. I would've told them to suck it.

Re: Canadian pilot pay
I will call their bluff.
The Copyright Act of Canada is very clear in the definition under what falls under material to be copyrighted. Wages and benefits are not an authored material and would be given if you made a freedom of information (Foip) request. Each Province does their a little differently but they are fairly easy to do if you want that information and the protection that gives you doing the request formally.
That is quite funny though, I'm sure if I told the tax man this year my wages were copyrighted I'd be gifted an annual audit and a 3% late penalty.
Georgian is just trying to bully you from doing the good service you are by exposing their embarrassing wages, etc.
