Hudsons Bay Oil & Gas Gulfstream C-FHBX Photo Wanted
I am looking for any images of the old Hudsons Bay Oil & Gas Gulfstream II C-FHBX which used to be based in Calgary between 1980 and 1986.
I would like to include this image on my website with a recently acquired model of this old aircraft.

Anything would be appreciated.
Thank you

If your chronology is correct this is a picture of the entire Dome fleet in YYC from the 1980's. Pretty impressive I would say. Can you confirm this is the former C-FHBX?

What a great image of the Dome Petroleum fleet! I wish I had some old Dome Pete models for my collection.
Based on the 1982 date on the corner of the image, this was well before Dome purchased HBOG. My research indicates this GII in the picture is C-GDPB acquired by Dome in August of 1979 and sold in January 1984.
In 1981 I was working the ramp at Executive Flight Centre. At the time I was trying to break into my first flying job as a low time Pilot in Calgary. On the same day I was offered two different jobs. The first was a position working on the ramp at Dome with no guarantee of a flying job, but obviously a incredible foot in the door. The 2nd was an immediate flying job, flying pipeline patrol based in Calgary. Hardest decision of my life. I passed on the Dome job and went low-level flying. Things went sour in the corporate world shortly after that, so I guess I made the right call.

Thanks for the info. My understanding is Dome was a great place to work.
Re: Hudsons Bay Oil & Gas Gulfstream C-FHBX Photo Wanted
You are so correct. That was my read also. Everybody wanted to work at Dome Petroleum, including myself. Just look at the diversified fleet of aircraft, the 2nd half of the new hangar and passenger lounge built just for the B737 operations with daily flights to Inuvik. Dome had a reputation and perception that everything was first class and done properly, lots of training and very safety oriented. It was the most impressive corporate flight department ever in Calgary in my opinion. Obviously not a sustainable operation when times got tough and the music stopped in the Oilpatch.John Desramaux wrote:Thanks for the info. My understanding is Dome was a great place to work.

Didn't Dome also operate a G1? Reason I ask I think it was Dome's G1 that went to Dow Chemical and I was at Flight Safety with the Dow crew on initial training. And does anyone know the registration of that 737?

Siddley Hawker - The registration may have been C-GDPA.

Dome did operate a GI which they acquired in March 1973. It was sold to Dow Chemical in May of 1982. It was C-FDLO.Siddley Hawker wrote:Didn't Dome also operate a G1? The B737 which Dome acquired new from Boeing in April 1980 was C-GDPA. The aircraft was sold to Pacific Western Airlines in June 1984.
Canadian North still has the aircraft.

That's the G1 parked on my old ramp - Innotech Aviation (beside Millardair) at Toronto Intl., building in the background is now Chartright.
Here is the history of Dome's G1, if you want to see her now - you'll have to go diving in Ohio ...

Also among the Dome fleet was Hawker 700A C-GXYN.

Re: Hudsons Bay Oil & Gas Gulfstream C-FHBX Photo Wanted
Thanks fellas. FSI had a standing joke that the Canadians were gonna put a G1 on skis. One of the Dow guys had a pic of DLO parked on the sea ice beside a drill rig in the Beaufort Sea. They used to overnight on the ice strip there with heated blankets for the engines and electric heaters in the avionics rack to keep all the goodies warm. The pic was a real hit at FSI.
