Post by garfield »

hi,

I'm wondering if you're flying corporate a private registered aircraft and you're the only pilot in the company can you call yourself the ``chief pilot``?

thanx

Depends. The new POR requires a Chief Pilot,Ops Manager, and a PRM. All can be the same person if they qualify under the current regulations.

Technically it depends under what CAR you flying under. For outfits that operate aircraft(s) under CAR 604 then the regulations requires a "chief Pilot" be designated. In general only the larger T props and jets will be operated 604, anything smaller will be operating under CAR 602. There is no regulatory requirement to have a chief pilot when operating under CAR 602.

Personally if a guy showed up with a resume where his last job was flying say a privately owned Navajo in a 1 pilot operation, and he/she described themselves as the "Chief Pilot" I would probably stop reading and throw it in the recycle bin.
