NavCanada Second Interview Help

Post by saminbc »

So I applied for NavCanada in September last year, had my written test last month and my first phone interview about 3 weeks ago.

Today I got a call saying that there was a position in FSS, for which the training would take place in BC, but the position might be anywhere but BC.

I tried to ask if I was getting the call for FSS because I was only cleared for FSS after my interviews or if I am still eligible for IFR or VFR, but she's only telling me that I have a chance at FSS but I have to confirm right NOW.

I asked what would happen if I said no, and she pretty much said that's it, I won't get another call again. I don't want my only choices to be this and give up any chance to be a VFR or IFR stream guy.

Has anyone declined? Have you received a follow up call ever after? I have family, kids in school and everything, and wanted to be in IFR or VFR streams, but it looks like this one call will determine what happens next.

Any help? Advice?

I don't know much about this but I find it's always good to get your foot in the door and build yourself up from within a company.

A company like NavCanada is a solid, long term company to work for. They will take care of you for sure.... Maybe ask them if you are able to upgrade later from jut being a FSS

FSS isn't a bad gig at all. There is possibility to cross train later on, but isn't the easiest to get.
