Re: NEW TFWP Rule
Ha. All required government agencies have given Sunwing a pass on every rule they have bent or broken. CTA, TC, CRA, CIC ... they have all given Sunwing the go ahead on every application. Illegal TFW request? Granted. Wet lease more aircraft than allowed? Granted. Illegally fly Canadian aircraft with no Canadian licence? Granted. Come into the country early for training without the paperwork? Granted. Sunwing hasn't been hiding what they are doing, it's your government that is breaking the rules for Sunwing and next winter looks to be no different.
The only exception I can think of is when someone pointed out to TC by registered mail that Sunwing was using a foreign registered aircraft which was not approved on their OC. In that case TC did quietly ask them to please stop but no enforcement action was ever taken.

December 1st... It should have been today...
Anyway the government are closing their eyes on Sunwing and others who are misusing the TFW program, I don't see how stronger penalties are going to change anything about it.

And our wonderful gov't will throw the book at them for the minimum $500/ tfw pilot. If not, I'm sure there's some logic Sunwing will think paying 1 mil is better than hiring Cdn pilots.Employers could also face fines ranging from $500 to $100,000 for each violation. Amendments made following stakeholder feedback will see fines capped at $1 million per year, per employer.
