Not a lot of talk of Porter lately. Mins recently dropped to 1000+ TT. Anyone hear of upcoming GS's and what the plan is in terms of hiring in the foreseeable future?

I've heard of guys getting accepted for ground schools in January and February. Good luck to all who are interviewing with them!

Pretty sure they just ran a ground school in the past few weeks that a friend of mine was in, no idea what's coming up.

There's currently a class 14 in ground school. They average 3000 TT. 1000 hours is what you need to apply, not get hired. They still plan on hiring pilots in the 2500+ range. Classes planned for Jan, Feb + more in the spring.

I'm just wondering, does anyone know when they will be hiring Flight Dispatchers?

Thanks

Hi guys,

thanks for the info. I've just done the online written and video interview. Any idea of how long it takes for porter to get back to you?

Thanks!

They called my references when I was in line training :)

That was in '09.

Good luck, I loved working there.

I know a former co-worker that is a new hire this year he would have just under 2000 hours...

Porter ran a ground school in Sept. They plan to run one in Jan, Feb and April. The offers for Jan and feb and some of April have gone out. More interviews are planned in Jan 2016 to fill the rest of the April class. There is also a small pool of interviewed pilots who have been notified they are "in the pool"

The average candidate who is being offered an interview is around 2500 hrs but some with time below 2000 are invited due to their experience.

1000TT min requirement to apply was set up to avoid auto denying those with less then 2500 hrs (previously set up) and this way if someone with lower time has relevant experience they can be identified.

Those that interview should hear either way 4 -6 weeks max. Usually a group of interviews is done then a follow up meeting to go over all the interviews happens and then offers are made. The length of time you wait really depends on where your interview date was with relation to the review day!

Hope that helps.

Same here never heard a thing... I understand they only respond if they are actually doing interview AND interested. A friend of mine applied and was auto-rejected early on this year but got called six months or so later and he's flying there now!(He had the 2500 hrs by then) I still think that unless you come in with a Q4 TR you will need that 2500 hrs.
Too bad, Porter is probably one of the best regionals left out there.

The G/S in January and March are all filled. They are still trying to fill the April G/S.

The waiting can definitely be tough! I know guys who did the in person interview in September who haven't heard yet. I haven't heard a peep yet after my in person interview in early October. Fingers crossed for April!

Anybody got any news?!?!?

Are there any spots left in near future GS????

Do they send out a email to let you know you were not considere, or no news means your in the "maybe" pile??

The wait is awful...

There are interviews currently happening this month; there are a few places left in the April ground school.

It is my understanding that you will only be contacted if they invite you for an in-person interview; as far as contacting you after the fact - in the past, folks have received emails saying they are in the pool, given a job offer, or just a "thanks but no thanks."

Perhaps if you haven't heard anything after the in-person interview and it's been a few months, drop them a polite note?

Chipmunk,

I only did the written/video interview,

But if you say that spots are still available and calls are going out then all hope is not lost....
Thanks for the info, it's appreciated
