Powdered Milk

Post by The Poll Troll »

I was discussing this with a fellow pilot today and we think this is why pilots are so messed up. Might just be us though.

We had powdered till mom got a job when I was about 12. Then we got the 2%.

Did anyone have that little saying in grade school-

2 percent, 2 percent

(then you look at the person saying it, and he says)

Not you HOMO!

I didn't get it till I was about 13. Before that, I thought, "Why is that guy calling me the red milk instead of the blue milk? He must be an idiot. "

Ahh, milk stories of youth. Time to vote!

Used it exclusively 1970-about 1995, about 25 years. Back in the high inflation 70's milk skyrocketed so went to powdered milk about 1/2 the price of wet. I got to like it and you can make it as thick or thin as you like. When it got to almost the same price as the 4 l. super store price I decided it wasn't worth the mixing trouble. As if the milk marketing board plugged the leak, it was too good a deal. It helped finance my underpaid career!

We used to get powdered milk at school, skim milk. This was back in the 50's. The stuff was like blue hair rinse if you followed the instructions for the amount of powder to the amount of water. Yuck.

Yep, Crino, in the bag. In the 50s and 60s, not Africa exactly, but northern Quebec. Was OK when mixed with Nestle Quick.

Apparently someone's turkey is done.

I used make Kraft Dinner with the powdered milk when I was up north. Sometimes a little chalky, but effective nonetheless.

Oh wow! I thought I was the only one.

I got lucky early on and was switched back to the real stuff.. but now on my way into a bottom feeder slot.. I might just be poor enough to go back to the powder..
