Air Canada Service is bad
Anyone else thinks that Air Canada's employees have bad attitude towards their customers? I have been with them for a couple of times already and it always leaves me with deep impression that their employees are utterly rude to me. They have always tried to slack off in their work and never given an 100% effort from what I've seen.

No never. I have been flying Air Canada for 25 years for buisness and have been Super Elite etc many years. Infact Im writing this on AC163 to YVR. I have never experienced anything but good service. The US carriers on the other hand have not been so good and I avoid them. What I see often however is a passanger pissed off at a weather or mechanical delay taking it out on the staff. More than once ive watched an AC person listen to an annoyed passanger with considerable restraint.

Funny thing is that it's normally the rudest most arrogant hate filled people that always seem to have poor customer service....everywhere they go! Check the common denominator.

Very true! I remember once in Chicago. Weather delay. Big line. Guy in front is giving the poor girl hell. When its my turm I complimented her on keeping her cool , said she was doing a good job ( she was) . Got meal tickets, a stay at the hilton and early AMflight out
Other guy got nothing.

I have always had great service with them in all classes. I think most Cabin crew want to do a great job, but at some point someone is going to have a bad day. It's just people trying to make a living.

Hmmm......Certainly not endorsing AC but....
Flew with AC last week. Flight was full both ways. Service was good. As in there were no maintenance delays, got my coffee in a reasonable amount of time, the entertainment system worked, and my bag did not get lost. And the flights were on time.
Sure wish I could complain.....but I can't......

Ditto. My experience with AC has been quite good, A+ service same I might add for other carriers i(we) have flown with- WJ,Jazz, Porter, AC Express, CDN North. People blame the airline for mechanical or weather. Anyway, the only really bad experiences Ive had were with US carriers where bags were lost for over a week and I saw a hostess screaming at the passangers one evening. I do have a pet peeve which is insufficient transfer times but Im not sure who is to blame for making you run between gates when another hour between flights would be possible.

I've never ever had an issue with AC and I've been flying nothing but them my entire life. I've never flown WS so I cannot comment. But I enjoy AC's professionalism, and there service always wins the Skytrax award, so they must be doing something right...

As a Westjet employee who enjoys having AC travel from my spouse I can honestly say the service is really good. Some flights (like ours) are better then others, but by no means is this "bad" across the board.

My only rude AC employee, in a lifetime of flying with them, was when they lowered the size of allowable carry ons. It was in YYZ and the lady was hassling everybody equally. She seemed so sure my bag was too large and seemed genuinely pissed off that I had the audacity to demonstrate in the bag measuring jig that indeed my AC crew bag fit the carry on size thing. That's why I bought it. lol didn't ruin my day.

Every airline whether employee or procedures is bound to piss someone off at some point. I've experienced it on every airline I've flown on as a pax and I'm sure most of you have as well. This is wide spread to every industry. It's human nature for one to have a bad day, takes discipline though not to show it or let it out on a customer. Some people are just genuine asshats, again we get this everywhere. Somehow bad customer service and policy gets sensationalized in the airline industry.
The source of policy comes from the need for maximize profits in a industry that at most times has slim margins, mostly due to heavy taxation. Here we should blame the government, because they're the one entity that's hated more than airlines.

It would seem that the lady was simply trying to do her job. Carry-on luggage is out of control, with passengers boarding unchallenged with over-sized, over-weight and over the limit number of pieces of carry-on. I would commend the person for trying to do what too few others do and that is: enforce the carry-on limits in terms of size, weight and number. Problem is, when so many pax get away with it so frequently they think that the limits don't really apply, and particularly to them because, well, "last flight I was allowed to take this on board". I agree that it's frustrating when you know that your bag is legal and you are challenged anyway, but it's hard to tell visually, particularly when so many bags are close to the limit, but nonetheless over the legal size. My hat is off to the lady who had the courage to do what she's paid to do because I suspect it's no fun watching pax after pax approach the gate laden down with gear and knowing that the person you're about to challenge isn't going to be very happy with you.co-joe wrote:... the lady was hassling everybody equally. As the flats of beer start to pile up on the dock and the boss is looking at the weather coming in, you say to yourself " Do I take the extra over-gross load, like the PSA lady DIDNT take the oversize carry-on ? Hypocritical ?

Ok...I think this seems a little rectifying. And if you guys want to accuse me of being a TROLL, then why not. I do confirm with the opening comment: Yes....Air Canada service is BAD and YES employees there are SLACKERS and HATE their job!
It seems that people that have written in this forum have no experience in what GOOD treatment and GOOD service is. And this IRRITATES me enough to be able to TROLL back. If you want to COMPARE with services, then please EXIT the CANADIAN AIRSPACE and look at OTHER NATIONAL carriers. Air Canada is a major airline and YES it CAN be compared by other airlines.
