Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
I wouldn't be surprised if AC PFO'd many who we're in the unofficial pool realizing there will be carriers going under from all this and likely more experience on the market in the coming year.
Good luck to everyone experiencing hardship (financial, professional, and to a lesser extent, familial) from this unfortunate event.
Hopefully we can bounce back to whatever normal this industry provides.
Cheers.

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
Great to see that business diversification in action.
AC reconfigures three 777-300ERs for main deck cargo.
Operating all cargo international flights London, Paris, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Tokyo, Shanghai, Hong Kong and more, plus ad hoc cargo charter.
The reconfiguration was developed, implemented and certified in just six days.

That would be something to see, an 77W combi!
Maybe this event is the springboard AC needs to bring back dedicated cargo machines with the soaring demand for worldwide lift. Put the cargo door in the best 10 or 12 767s and get a piece of it.

I doubt we will see that story on CBC.altiplano wrote: ↑Sat Apr 11, 2020 9:05 am Great to see that business diversification in action.

Totally. AC showing adaptability, keeping the supply chains open, supporting some part of our economy, delivering needed medical supplies, keeping jobs viable. CBC isn't interested in that story.sanjet wrote: ↑Sat Apr 11, 2020 9:11 amI doubt we will see that story on CBC.altiplano wrote: ↑Sat Apr 11, 2020 9:05 am Great to see that business diversification in action.

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
I’ve seen the questions asked in this thread prior to Covid, but with hiring starting again, what are the chances of OTS hires going to AC from 705 companies in Canada ? With ATR/Dash8 or similar experience

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
Not great for the next few years.
80% of new hires will come from Jazz. Which means about 60 non-Jazz pilots tops. If you arent military/heavy jet plus a degree and bilingual I think it will be a tough road to row untill the pool shallows out a bit.

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
So they should hire up to 70% of new hire slots from jazz with a 10% overall turndown ratecolumbia wrote: ↑Fri Mar 18, 2022 6:06 pmWhat’s the difference?flyingcanuck wrote: ↑Fri Mar 18, 2022 6:04 pmincorrect, they need to accept 90% of the those applicants from Jazz in that poolCPT.HarshColdReality wrote: ↑Fri Mar 18, 2022 5:59 pm Sorry tu burst your bubble but 90% of new hires must come from jazz....
Re: The Air Canada OTS thread

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
Well i just read through the contract and there is a 60% and a %70 figure, so it may be a min of 60 up to 70 I dont quite get the difference.
Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
I can see a good reason for pilots from every single airline in Canada to be applying to Air Canada now, regardless of their current seniority. Captains from Transat, WestJet, Sunwing, not to mention Cathay, Emirates, etc are going to be your competition. I bet AC is really regretting that Jazz hiring deal now.
Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
60% of positions (on an annualized basis) from Jazz. Maximum 10% turndown rate (on an annualized basis).
90% of positions from Jazz in any year AC hires 100 or less total pilots.
Hope that helps.

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
Why 10% overall turndown rate? Does Murray want the accidents and incidents to increase?flyingcanuck wrote: ↑Fri Mar 18, 2022 6:19 pmSo they should hire up to 70% of new hire slots from jazz with a 10% overall turndown ratecolumbia wrote: ↑Fri Mar 18, 2022 6:06 pmWhat’s the difference?flyingcanuck wrote: ↑Fri Mar 18, 2022 6:04 pm
