Over weight Pilots ..

Post by Pilot_adam »

What do employers think of a Fat (or lets be more polite and say an overweight pilot) ???...
I would say that small cargo operations would rather lighter pilots to make more money with cargo...
But i mean looks are important too...
I personally have gained 40 pounds since september last year  ..
went from size 32 to 38  ....it is time to hit the gym i guess..any Hints???
Have any of u had the experience of being an overweight pilot???details please!!!..

Cheers
Adam

I think he did. A diabetic diet is a great way to lose weight and if you incorporate excersise into the mix, you'll feel like a million bucks!

Work for a company that uses standard weights and you'll just blend into the crowd.

PETA really pushes the limits down here, Endless. Some of their billboards around here are enough to make the heartiest of carnivores ill.

Pilot Adam, I do recommend cutting back on the meat if you're looking to really get a blast full of life. That .. crap has made a lot of people I know ill and make sure you stay away from it, because you become reliant upon it.

Adam. Eat more red meat. It's essential to the building of muscles. The leaner the better. Venison is a good choice.

dude-cut back on the portions. you don't need any of these fad diets-just portion control, and no dessert. Cut out the pop, and watch what you drink ie juices, gatorade, cut the cream and sugar out of the coffee, and regular excersize. You'll notice a difference in no time.

I worked for a company and they hired a low timer over the phone. He showed up and weight about 300 lbs. This does not work when flying a 206. He got sent home. Poor guy, but I hoope he learned and stepped away from the table.

depends on the useful load of the aircraft... an extra 100lbs is either an extra 100 in fuel, paying passengers, or cargo. I'm no expert, so what's the useful load of a 206? Can't be a ton.

The useful load of the wheel 206 I fly is just over 1600 lbs. Full fuel is 480 lbs.

I used to weigh 180ish, then I stopped eating crap food, cut out pop, junk food, minimised sugar, starting exercising regularily, and now maintain 150 for the last couple years. No fad or quick fix, just common sense I guess.

Hey,

I am carrying an extra 30 pounds or so myself. Any reccomendations on where to gain some information on the G.i. index and diabetic diets? Might be worth a look.

thanks.

Loc,

I think discriminating against fat people is justified if they can't get the job done. Universities discriminate against dumb people and refuse them admission, airlines make fat people buy two seats, life sucks.

P.S. You wouldn't own them, they had their OC pulled 3 years ago.
