2. Aircraft pilots and flight engineers
Fatalities: 92.4 per 100,000 employed
Median pay: $129,250 (LOL)– but may be much lower for commercial pilots.
Although aircraft pilots and flight engineers have one of the most dangerous jobs in the nation, don't swear off air travel just yet. This category also includes commercial pilots of smaller aircrafts – including crop dusters and air taxis – that are far more likely to crash than your typical 747.
You're so dangerous

Ya...saw that on my e-mail sign in.... after I saw the wages quoted .... I decided not to post it. If they take those figures as reality I have a hard time believing anything after that.

Sometimes I think it's a shame when I get feelin' better when I'm feelin no pain.

While I would somewhat like to know where the pay numbers were taken, the article is talking about median, and not mean (or average) pay.
Median, in statistics refers to the 50th percentile. So in the pool of pilots used for this statistic, half of the pilots made less than 129,250$ and the other half made more. How much less, or how much more, the median pay alone cannot say. Other statistical methods like standard deviations are used to figure that out.
Goodbye,
Louis

I'm still thinking that with 1000 NWA guys being fired and 1000s of guys working the ramp at $10/hr the 50th percentile to be incorrect.Louis wrote: Median, in statistics refers to the 50th percentile. I'm still thinking they meant "flying" pilots in which case fine.
But, if you're true to the CPLer's which they mention "charters... blah blah blah..." I'm still thinking the median would not be so high.
PS. If the median is true we made out the best sure we die the most but of the 10 top "jobs" listed our median was double the second largest median. =P

This was the part that made me laugh. I've been around crop spraying since 1990, and in that time there have been two fatalities in all of Canada. A whole lot of crashes, but only 2 fatalitiesThis category also includes commercial pilots of smaller aircrafts – including crop dusters and air taxis – that are far more likely to crash than your typical 747.
Flying a twin only doubles your chance of having an engine failure
