Hawkair suspended its Smithers to Vancouver once before reviving it but cancelled it again in mid-2015 and in late 2015 announced it was suspending its Prince Rupert service.

Encore doesn't fly to Smithers or Prince Rupert. While more competition on regional routes is always a factor in the survivability of smaller operators, Hawkair's issues are much more complex than Encore pushing the smaller players out of their routes.
