We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to fulfill a full time position as a Flight Follower. This individual must have a high level of energy, resourcefulness, and be able to take initiative. Discipline, organization, and communication are essential in providing exceptional operational support. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Flight Follower supports the entire Orca team in the day-to-day operations. He/she plays an integral role in the operational control structure of the Company.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Closely monitor all flights in order to maintain an up-to-date flight watch over all flights operating
• Respond to all emergency situations in a timely and professional manner in accordance with procedures
• Set up flight schedules and forecasts as required
• Resolve operational issues that may occur (weather conditions drop, plane goes mechanical, etc)
• Manage and inform of conditions present or anticipated which may cause delays or disruptions to the on-time performance of Company Flights
• Communicate updates with all departments and liaise with maintenance regarding serviceability of aircraft, hours, next check etc.
Qualifications and Competencies:
• Previous experience as a dispatcher or flight follower in the aviation industry an asset
• Communication effectiveness with both internal and external customers, authorities, and agencies
• Excellent organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills
• Effective and efficient decision making, particularly when under pressure; demonstrates good judgement
• Remain calm in challenging/uncomfortable situations
• Able to apply applicable regulations (i.e. Canadian Aviation Regulations)
• Self-starter, leadership-focused, comfortable with working independently, but also a team member
• Strong attention to detail with an emphasis on quality of work
• Customer focused, safety minded, creative, and reliable
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as computer competence
• Ability to identify and implement operational solutions to optimize performance o A great work ethic, able to take initiative and adapt to various situations
