Hello
Could someone that went through a recent TC Atpl application, please shed some light in what exactly has changed with the new regulations , i.e. IFR no longer expires etc..
I currently hold and EASA Atpl and an ICAO Atpl. A few years back I had around 3000hrs and applied for the TC Atpl. I did a checkride in a Piper Seneca, wrote the two exams ( I was exempted from writting the INRAT and allready had IATRA ). It all went smooth passed everything and my application was processed. In the mean time i went overseas to fly. I received and email saying i was 75 hours short of obtaining the Atpl ( Easa required PICUS hours and TC woulnt count 150PICUS as 150PIC but as 75, so i should of applied at 3075hrs TT). At the time they said I had 2 years to get the hours. I didnt think much of it and now of course that time has lapsed as the exam were only valid for 24months. I did get way more than 75 hours in the 24 months following the application, I just didnt reapply or send the logbooks in to TC as they were required to be carried while on flying duties.
I have read the new regulations that the IFR does not expire anymore, and all is needed to be current is a renewal which can be done in a simulator . To reapply for the Atpl again, would I have to go and write the 2 exams again and do a check ride in an actual aircraft? If I have to go through the process again does the actual checkride be done in an aircraft or in a sim i.e a 737 sim ? Reading the CARS is confusing as one part says actual aircraft and another says it can be done in a sim.
Any info is highly appreciated. Thank you

Re: TC Atpl and new regulations
Very confusing yes.
If more than 24 months passed after your writtens and did not get the full license processed then yes you must re write.
You can do your check ride on actual aircraft or level C or D sim which in your case would be easier to take it on 737.
They also dont accept the PICUS anymore it must be done with a Canadian operator.
IR that does not expire that s the first time i hear that.
Good luck mate.

Anticyclone, thanks ! This was what I was afraid of
another hole in the pocket and that I would have to do everything from scratch again. IFR expiry as you don't have to do a flight test but just a renewal which can be done in the red bird simulator that many places have now.
PICUS rule bit me at the time.
Thanks again for the reply.
