Hey aviators,
Question for the seasoned pros on Wx radar interpretation.
Why does two neighboring radar station show different returns for the overlapping areas? Is it because the more distant the radar return the less accurate it is?
Here's an example. Two images, on the YUL image notice there is no precip between CYCC and CYUL. On the YOW image (taken at the same time) there is a clear band of precipitation showing for the same area.
Thanks for your help!

More important question: Why do you have 10 tabs on your mobile web browser?
Re: Interpreting radar image
I am no expert but if I were to take a guess it would have to do with the intensity of the precip falling and the strength of what the radar is set to. The radar sensitivity may be set much lower on the YUL radar compared to the YOW radar. Combine that with very light precip and you would not see it show up at all. Have a read here https://www.wunderground.com/prepare/un ... ding-radar .
Re: Interpreting radar image
I don't know if it answers your question in this case, but radar can't see moisture over the horizon, so low level moisture will only appear on a radar site close by, high level moisture can be seen by multiple sites.
DId you hear the one about the jurisprudence fetishist? He got off on a technicality.
