Avionics standard practice and technical exam

Hello guys/gals
I am studying to write a technical exam and standard practices exam for my E license. The TC website has a guide but its so vague and covers things I will never touch as an E.
I have been researching exam guides, study materials and have come up with nothing. Alot of the the M guys recommend reading the Jepp for the technical.
I found these books at a local store, has anyone tried these for exams? They are the FAA study guide and forums say most of the FAA questions are from these guides and some Canadian guys are saying that alot of the questions in the TC exams are pulled from the FAA bank.

Any help/guidance is appreciated!!!

Do you guys know how many questions per exam? It says 90 questions for technical. Don't know how many for avionics and how many for standard. I have the book just don't know where to concentrate more. Thanks.

Is there any way of self-studying for AME E license and then passing required exams with TC? Assume I have an AMO who is willing to let me work for them to complete required 48 month practice.

im currently reading 3 mike tooley books, Jeppesen books as well and ac43 book took the exam couple months ago. 60% on avionics 55% on standard.

Hey sorry this might be a long shot, being a 4 yr old post, but do you still have any info on the avionics tech exams? I'm going to be writing soon and the contents are vague, even my contact at TC said these tests are so old they don't have any other information to give me to prepare.

Any tips on what to study for the SPE? I have the Jepessen texts as well but they are huge. The study guide at the TC website implies that I have to study every detail. I just don't know where to start.

Any tips about the type of questions from anyone who has taken the SPE exam recently? Would appreciate the help!
