$65.00 for sending fax?

Post by Cat Driver »

A friend of mine was telling us at the airport today that he needed a document sent to his home so he could fly his airplane this weekend.

He asked TC if they could fax same, they said yes and the cost would be $65.00.

He had a courrier pick it up and deliver it to his home the following day, cost, $12.00

So what's your point Cat. I paid $27.00 for a medical processing fee to renew my class 2/air drivers license. I will be paying $75.00 for my Dr. to do said medical sometime in the next 5 years. I paid the same amount for my previous license and they never did send me the paperwork for the medical. That is the way government works. What you think it is for the people.

" So what's your point Cat. "

My point is two fold, one to underline how unreasonable their fees are for something as simple as sending a fax, two, to let others know there is a cheaper way.

You know Cat, it does sound unreasonable. So unreasonable that I doubt it happened. Either that or you're not telling us the whole story.

Was the document a couple of hundred pages long? Any proof of your friend's experience?

" Was the document a couple of hundred pages long? Any proof of your friend's experience? "

The document was a change of C of R so it couldn't be very many pages.

My friend is a member of our EAA chapter, he was relating this to some other EAA chapter members.

I doubt very much that he was misleading us.

I just love you guys who pop up to question every post I make regarding TC.

I'll tell you what CID, why don't you get in touch with licensing in Vancouver and ask them if this is true?

If my friend was lying to us I will retract this post.

And my point was, if you want to hear about someone getting screwed by Government stand outside of any Government office and ask someone leaving it how it went. You're friend is not alone.

Exactly:

And soon private aviation in Canada will be like Europe, only for the very rich.

Do you think that TC will downsize their bureaucracy when we get to that point, of course not.

I used to think that amateur built airplanes was the way to go, but even those are now getting more expensive than certified aircraft.

Yesterday I had to buy six feet of 1 1/8 inch .058 4130 tubing for my landing gear on my Cub project. With taxes it came to$70.15.

No f.ckin wonder there are fewer airplanes flying privately.

They charged us $35 to reprint the AOC that they had screwed up on. Taxes never ever quit in this country. By the way Cat, that charge to me was also from the Vancouver office so I don't doubt it a bit.

My medical cost 215 Euro this summer in Holland. ( about $320.00 Can. )

And of course TC wants $55.00 as usual.

Hey Cat

Here is a tip. TC says that if you do not pay for your medical licencing fee, they will add it to your income tax bill at the end of the year,

How long do you think it will take them to figure out how to actually do that!!!?

Government agencies are not that great at talking to eachother. Peter has no idea what Paul is doing and vice versa.

Funny you should mention that.

They will keep sending you letters asking for their fee, if you do not pay it they will advise Revenue Canada to deduct it from any tax money owed to you...

...I don't pay much attention to that threat as I no longer work in Canada because of my little problem with TC where I lost all my money, so if the Government wants to they can deduct it from what they forgot to pay me back....

Anyhow I'm on old age pension and unemployed thanks to TC. However they by law can not touch my old age pension.

Cat, I'm not the one obligated to prove anything. If you chose to declare that TC will charge you $65 to send you a one page fax then YOU are the one who is obligated to prove it.

In the mean time, I'll consider it BS. Especially when they took the time to courier it to your imaginary friend for nothing.

Jesus CID. Cut Cat some slack. Everyone has had run ins with TC, some good and some bad. I see no possible reason to question a man's (who's on OAP) integrity because of a bad time with TC. Sometimes good and sometimes bad.

By the way, you're in Ottawa.

In your desire to pick apart my posts CID you leave yourself open to just how limited your reading and comprehension skills are.

You said:

" In the mean time, I'll consider it BS. Especially when they took the time to courier it to your imaginary friend for nothing. "

They did not courier it for nothing....

So I'll paste what I said again to save you skrolling up.

Here it is:

" He had a courrier pick it up and deliver it to his home the following day, cost, $12.00 "

Marktheone:

Thanks for the comments, I may be on OAP but I'm still healthy enough to keep flying at the top of the industry skills wise, otherwise they would not allow me to fly the airshow circuit in Europe, and mentally I feel able to cope with CID.

The odds are he not only is posting from Ottawa but is with TC and is one of the reasons that a lot of us get fed up with the mentality of some of them that work for us.

Anyhow I do appreciate your thoughts...

thats weird, I had TC send my records from Hamilton office by Purolator, got to me next morning and they didnt charge me a cent, went to Stapless to have them photocopy and bind a checklist $54! I went to Kinkos and paid $11.

I guess the moral of the story is, if they dont screw you one way, they will screw you another.

It's gotta be Ottawa. No offence meant to you Cat I just thought that CID might of gone a little overboard on that one.

CID if oyu do work for TC just remember it's only a job. Same as flying is only a job for me. Working at TC is not a lifestyle. Just because you choose to partake in same sex liasons and work at TC we will not hold it against you. It's ALL Good!! 8) 8) 8) 8)

Marktheone and all the rest:

Like every large organization you find good and bad.

If you read the flight instructors forum we have someone called TC Guy, he represents the best in TC, all you need do is read his contributions.

If in fact CID is with TC he represents the type that his colleauges should get rid of, or shun like HIV.

That's true cat. I have had good expeiriences with the C and B side of TC. I have to say that I have yet to have a positive brush with the M and M side of things.

Actually I'll call a spade a spade. M and M in Vancouver is horrendous. It has actually caused many operators to move out of YVR and to the smaller airports. So I guess I'm 50/50.

" Actually I'll call a spade a spade. M and M in Vancouver is horrendous. "

That is an understatement, if you are in this area come and visit me sometime and I can show you proof positive of why and how it got to this state here and why it will remain nothing short of a thug mentality operation.

The bottom line is the problem is at the top, and supported by Ottawa.

I could disagree with you there Cat. I got results locally by going above GS. Actually that's not quite accurate. By threatening to go above is as high as I had to go.

Had a similar experience with TC here in Toronto a few years ago.... changed one partner and submitted the CofR docs with the new persons name. Started calling a week before the temp CofR was to expire because we still didnt have the new docs. After a couple days of calls finally found out they filed the docs bacause one partner was from UK. They wanted $50 to fax us an extension....... :? Called back the next day, and talked to a different person, she rushed the docs to us and we got them day after the temp expired.

Too bad that the level of service all depends on who picks up the phone.....

And then 6 months later, CCRA got wind of the change... thinking we sold it they tried to tax us again on the value of the plane. That precipitated another call trying to get confirmation letters sent from TC for the CCRA......
