I will finally put this thread to rest.
The crew thought they heard and felt a surge or an abnormal engine occurance on the takeoff roll.
They aborted AS THEY ARE PROPERLY TRAINED TO DO.
Tires were blown.
As sometimes happens on high speed aborts.
The plane and crew and pax are fine.

Its not at rest ... especially when the topic keeps getting erased, locked .. etc ..
Ok .. crew says there was an abnormal engine indication, as in the torque flickered due to crapped out gauge? or was there audible to go with the indication?
Second, witnesses say the aircraft became airborne. Don't your SOP's say anything after V1 or in the case of the BE99 VR, you take the problem airborne? The plane isn't going to fall out of the sky on one engine, and cost of tires, down time, and extra parts, labour ... all could have been avoided. With that said, I don't know the exact situation. Im just sharing opinions and ideas.
Everything worked out, and nobody was hurt which is the main thing. Im only poking into it deeper to see what other people would do in the same hot seat.

It's really easy to look at things now.....and say well they should done this or that. Or I would have done this instead...and they call themselves pilots.Everything worked out, and nobody was hurt which is the main thing. Im only poking into it deeper to see what other people would do in the same hot seat.
The important thing is nobody was hurt and I'm sure that the crew and everyone else will learn from this experience.
I heard today that witnesses also saw a three legged coyote jumping up and down to the sounds of Destiny's Child playing from a stereo of a passing 1984 ford half ton truck just north of the Calm Air hanger. A raccoon, embrassed by the coyote, decided to go home.
These witnesses sure don't miss anything.
Localizer to answer your question, yes the 99 does have audible indication that your torque is not right. The 99 has amasing computers that know what torque setting must be set for every phase of flight. If you are a a little high on approach and your torque should be 958lbs, and you set the power at 1000lbs, a very smart computer, in a very nice voice states that you should really reduce power. If you have any more than a 25lb torque split it will kindly ask you if you would like to adjust the power levers, or adjust the rudder trim to center the ball. Don't ask me how it works, it is just a really smart machine.

I think the reason this keeps coming up is because there seems to have been an incident on a rejected take off and the airplane suffered damage of some sort getting stopped.
Maybe just simple things like how long was the runway, did it get airborne, was the runway wet or slippery for some other reason.
This pussy footing around with only a few in the know is what is causing all these posts.
I very much doubt that many here are out to dump on the crew, they just wonder what happened.

The hardest thing about flying is knowing when to say no
After over a half a century of flying no one ever died because of my decision not to fly.

200 hrs ... Amusing ...
Maybe you need to think about what im asking, instead of shooting off the hip with sarcasm. Audible meaning engine noise, a difference between the two .. not the super computer you speak of ... they call that Airbus.
Eye witnesses are taken with a grain of salt. But again .. I wasn't there so I go by what I hear, and I ask, thats how you learn. So instead of sitting there trying to beat down comments with your amusing storys of wounded animals and loud music, I suggest you add useful information, or opinions.
Or you can go back to huffing glue, gasoline or whatever it was that helped you come up with that interesting story. Then when the munchies set in reach back grab a big bag of cholesterol and enjoy! ....
