If they wanted to do a better job, they should have used a picture of a 737, rather than what looks like a MD-80 or DC-9...

You are right of course, and leave it to us pilots to pick everything apart. Just the same it was a pretty funny piece.

The articel also mentions that it crashed in a cornfield. Some pretty nice looking shrubs and the burnt pole in the foreground also looks a bit out of place for a cornfield. Most people won't know this difference between one destroyed transport plan and another, but I hope they can tell what a cornfield looks like.

Consolidating flights is another controversial cost-cutting measure used by Delta in recent months. Delta's last attempt to consolidate flights in midair, in December 2005, resulted in the total destruction of two 747s, which exploded in a large fireball approximately 35,000 feet over central Arizona.
sounds like they have a self destruct button on the ground, anytime a flight status changes in fight... planes goes down :( just odd thats all, God rest

If a tree falls and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound??

Isn't that why they tell you not to cancell you flight plan until you're safely on the ground??

So, if you cancel the flight plan, does that really count as a "crash?"

Love "The Onion"! Well, in Indiana, they have some mighty big corn-stalks-- and you should see the ones in Nebraska! A major tourist attraction for Quebecers too.
