Worth getting or not?

Post by N2 »

Ok guys serious question here. Would it be of any benefit to write my ATPL with 1000 TT and 85 multi at the ripe old age of 47 or should I just forget flying for a living and move on?

I say go for it. It might make you even more employable. You still have a possible 20 year career ahead of your if your health holds....touch wood!

Write the exams, it won't hurt. Plus, a 1000 hour pilot with ATPL exams written is an excellent candidate to be hired as a rampie.

Will you have the remaining 500 hours within the next 2 years? If not, wait to write the exams, otherwise you'll have to do them over. You have to apply for the ATPL within 2 years of writing the exams.
