Hi my name is Mark and I am looking to get into flying for a career and was hoping to get some info on what some of the best options are, best schools or flying clubs. I live in southern Ontario and was hoping to stay in the area. Thanks for any help!

Depending on how old you are and if you already have a degree, I would not recommend going to one of the "pilot" schools such as Seneca, Sault, etc... and just get your licenses done at a local flying club as quickly as possible. After that get an instructor rating and instruct for a while and apply to the regionals. This advice is valid for today's airline/economic/what-have-you situation and could change in half a year's time or a year from now.

Thanks for the info! Looks like there is a decent amount of insight into this profession. Does anyone have any recommendations on flight schools that would be better than others even if it means a further drive? I am closer to the London area. Thanks!

Not sure if you have or not, but make sure to look into realistic wage scenarios for the next 5-10 year. Do it before you spend any significant amount of money on training towards a commercial license.

Definitely don't want to be negative and/or discourage you at all, but there are a lot of CPLs out there that gave up on trying to make a career out of it...

This is not a career that you "just look into". You either love aviation or you don't. My advice:
1. Get a real degree (doesn't matter what it is)
2. Get a Private Pilot License. If you still like it, then go get your CPL / ME / IFR
3. Get some flying experience
4. Get to fly for a regional airline.

If you haven't started yet, go do an intro flight,
sign up for ground school,
get a stack of books,
start studying everyday, read and take notes.

In your Area, look at Stratford, London airports for Pilot training.
Spend time online learning Air Safety, study the fatal accident reports.
Learn what not to do,
have fun...
