We need to change our ATPL and move it at the very least towards the European standard. And then mandate an ATPL for all 705 category aircraft.

Re: Jazz Payscale Updated 2019
Better be careful there. If the ATPL is required for 705 flight crew, and the licensing requirement is time is experience in transport category aircraft, then you've made a catch 22. I'd only go as far as to make some form of requirement for experience operating under an operating certificate (meaning 604, 702, 703, 704). Could even say an IFR certified operation.Rowdy wrote: ↑Fri Feb 08, 2019 11:45 amIf our ATPL wasn't such a farce. Exams that were current in 1986. Unlikely until they get everyone back flying. Hard to ask for more when people are paid to sit at home and supply is so high !
Re: Jazz Payscale Updated 2019
The supply is not nearly as high as people might think. That will become very apparent when they are done recalling and begin hiring. Yes.... Porters year 3 CA hourly rate is higher than Jazz top pay for 17 year CA. I predict there will be quite a few junior pilots at Jazz who aren’t interested in AC head to Porter when their jet flying starts.

Re: Jazz Payscale Updated 2019
What is the take home per month for a first year FO?
I can figure out gross from payscale and average credits per month but curious on what the actually take home is after pension/union dues/benefits are deducted?
Trying to figure out if I can afford the jump
Thanks.

Take home is $2000-2200 month after taxes and deductions
Perdiums $1000-1300

Stop with the perdiem...it's money already spent.Malfunction wrote: ↑Thu May 19, 2022 10:18 am Take home is $2000-2200 month after taxes and deductions

Unless you claim it on taxes....drop it.

Re: Jazz Payscale Updated 2019
This is ridiculous. When literally 30% of the money going into your account is per diem, it counts. Most FO's making ~3K/month are probably going to try and minimize their food costs while away.ToolShed wrote: ↑Thu May 19, 2022 4:13 pmStop with the perdiem...it's money already spent.Malfunction wrote: ↑Thu May 19, 2022 10:18 am Take home is $2000-2200 month after taxes and deductions

It's not pay, but it matters.

I never eat to full perdium. Some days I get away with only spending 20-25. Rest in my pocket.

There are some carriers that embellish non-taxable compensation as a partial replacement for taxable compensation. Jazz is not one of those carriers.
Jazz daily per diem rates are less than those paid to Government of Canada employees travelling on business.
Jazz year 1-5 pay rates are deficient. With any luck, market forces will force change.

All those wanting to come to Jazz expect to see this... T4 rich pay poor. Our deductions are huge. Our pay needs to increase
