Beginning of Transat wave?
Is the hiring wave at Transat just beginning? Kind of like what happened over at AC 4 years ago?
How many vacancies are required to be filled? Upgrade times ?
What’s being offered in feb and March courses for types ?
Thanks!

Re: Beginning of Transat wave?
The hiring wave started almost 5 years ago and in my opinion it's gonna slow down in max 2 years (same at AC). We are close to a global financial crisis so when it's gonna happen; I suppose that hiring will stop for some time.
Upgrade: about 5 years at the moment.
Types: A330/321 and B737

Hiring isn't slowing at AC in 2 years.
Transat is a great place to work, if anyone is considering, lots of people making great careers there, great planes, beautiful destinations, I enjoyed my time there.

I ask myself that sometimes, LOL......for me it was a personal choice, but I'll always speak highly of Transat.

I've never met anyone that worked at Transat and didn't like it. Every pilot I've spoken with loves that place.Puffpuffpass wrote: ↑Thu Feb 07, 2019 12:03 pm I ask myself that sometimes, LOL......for me it was a personal choice, but I'll always speak highly of Transat.

It was a wise move, on your part , in light of the continuing losses for the company. The stock hit a 52 week low today .Puffpuffpass wrote: ↑Thu Feb 07, 2019 12:03 pm I ask myself that sometimes, LOL......for me it was a personal choice, but I'll always speak highly of Transat.

30+ years of ups and downs and TS is still kicking. The lifestyle and variety of flying keeps things interesting and our contract is not shabby. Theres a big push for hiring in Western Canada coming up.tsgas wrote: ↑Thu Mar 14, 2019 8:03 pmIt was a wise move, on your part , in light of the continuing losses for the company. You left out Trudeau's "budgets balance themselves". Pan Am Airways, Eastern Air Lines,TWA, were all more than 75 years in business before they closed their doors. What they all had in common ,was constant loses , and that is what ends up killing all companies . Increasing the flying when the yield is below the costs of operating will mean more losses if management doesn't get their act together soon.TFTMB heavy wrote: ↑Fri Mar 15, 2019 7:16 am30+ years of ups and downs and TS is still kicking. TS was in the their golden years when Nationair went under.
Re: Beginning of Transat wave?
tsgas, you seem way more worried than most of us working at Transat. It’s funny to see how people are wasting their precious time criticizing. Instead of just beeing pessimist, please share your suggestions: what would you do differently if you were at the management?tsgas wrote: ↑Fri Mar 15, 2019 8:46 amYou left out Trudeau's "budgets balance themselves". " Stating the facts " my dear friend , isn't pessimistic , it is realistic. You seem to have an inner conflict in saying that I am a "pessimist" and yet also "funny" . S o are you going to cry or laugh ?FL320 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 15, 2019 12:05 pmtsgas, you seem way more worried than most of us working at Transat. As far as me being worried about your future, let me assure you , that I don't give a rat's arse what happens to your career. I have an opinion ,which like yourself . I am entitled to. So grow up and stop looking for a conflict , when one doesn't actually exist.
Now my suggestion to management is, instead of investing money in junk bonds , buying some aircraft would be a better alternative. C 3 made the same mistake by leasing their entire fleet. Any more suggestions will cost you money , I like yourself , do not work for free.
Re: Beginning of Transat wave?
To be fair, they are at a 6 year low, and have basically been in a freefall for the last year, however prior to the decline starting in Q1 2018 it was also at an all-time high. Unfortunately they've been taking a dive at the release of every quarterly report since.
They have extreme pressure from competition on all sides right now, with Rouge, Sunwing, and Swoop all taking direct aim.
Rouge and Sunwing have almost unlimited backing to bleed money far longer than Transat if it comes down to that strategy. (Sunwing thanks to the new foreign ownership rules.... 49% TUI)
AC's stock has been insane, topping 30 bucks lately. But let's not forget that almost exactly 10 years ago there were in a couple year downhill bottoming out at 80 fricken cents.
So it is a bit worrisome that AC is going so strong while TS is on the decline, but more interestingly, if you look at TUI and TRZ for the last couple years, their trajectories have been almost identical, so there's that.
Hopefully this will just be another case of reallocation and adaptation. One thing that TRZ definitely is is dynamic.
All those defunct aforementioned airlines were, well, airlines. Transat AT isn't. They are a tourism company first, but they've had vertical integration with their own airline as part of their mission statement back when they did their IPO. Their inhouse carrier doesn't have to make money.
They have the luxury of focusing on land holdings, developments, tours, and hotels. AC or those others do not.
It was suggested recently that they could sell off their aviation arm, but they aren't interested. Hopefully that doesn't change.

Re: Beginning of Transat wave?
I suggest some of you do some research on the financial health of TS (cash flow particularly). TS is in a restructuring phase and trying to build a solid base for a new vision. In the mean time, at the transportation department, we all keep trucking along as we wait for the first 321LR to arrive and hope for the best.
Re: Beginning of Transat wave?
Loosing money during the boom times doesn't bold well when we hit the next recession. FYI you will be competing with a much stronger airline financially called Westjet. The new B 787's will be competing with the TS NEO 321 LR's.TFTMB heavy wrote: ↑Sun Mar 17, 2019 4:08 pm I suggest some of you do some research on the financial health of TS (cash flow particularly). Re: Beginning of Transat wave?
I doubt 87’s will be going head to head on any routes the 321LR will do, if anything the 87’s will go up against the 330’s which I think may be cheaper to operate than an 87 on most of the TATL routes.tsgas wrote: ↑Sun Mar 17, 2019 7:21 pmLoosing money during the boom times doesn't bold well when we hit the next recession. Good thing you're not running WS and sending 787s in the South of France to compete with TS 321LRs. Then again, I wish you were!tsgas wrote: ↑Sun Mar 17, 2019 7:21 pmLoosing money during the boom times doesn't bold well when we hit the next recession. Re: Beginning of Transat wave?
Good thing you don't have anything to do with business. What socialist's like you can't comprehend , is the concept of critical mass. WS has an amazing feed system which includes Encore, but that is way too complicated for you to fathom . In the mean time TS is still flying A 310's ,DOHTFTMB heavy wrote: ↑Mon Mar 18, 2019 8:24 pmGood thing you're not running WS and sending 787s in the South of France to compete with TS 321LRs.
