The American consumer, like us Canadians are completely ADDICTED to the crap manufactured in China. Walmart is making a KILLING on this weakness, and they're prepared to pass a bit on to the individuals transporting this crap.

How is this even remotely relevant to a cut-throat aviation industry that has pilots -constantly and consistently- buying into their Managers nonsensical "burning platform" which results in us undercutting one another to "save their Company"????

Starting? No. Maybe in specialty haul. I'm seeing starting wages in the 50-70 cents per mile. You'd have to be running 14,000 miles a month plus to get 100k. 10-12 is more usual. But yes starting wages have skyrocketed in the past 6 year. Literally doubled.

My neighbour earns about $135,000/y doing so. Only been driving for a few years.
One could deem Air Canada as the specialty of our biz haha.

One can easily make a quarter million dollars salary flying airplanes by the end of their career, working less than twelve days per month, with a big pension and great benefits to boot. Want to make that kind of money somewhere else? Go be a CEO, doctor, or a lawyer, and enjoy working overtime for it, and stuck inside an office building. Food for thought. Short term salary sucks, but what kind of pilot here would rather drive a truck for the rest of their life?

Key word - by the END of their career. Meanwhile most guys are making far less at the beginning and missing out on capital growth for all those years to attain that level of salary. Cash in hand is far more valuable early on.

And I would say that making $100k as a junior regional captain is pretty good “cash in hand”.
