I thought I read somewhere that the prototype, (pictured) crashed.

The average pilot, despite the somewhat swaggering exterior, is very much capable of such feelings as love, affection, intimacy and caring.
These feelings just don't involve anyone else.

Oldtimer - here I go spreading what could be a rumour but the source is pretty reliable, though not first-hand. Supposedly they did ball it up landing in a farmer's field. The guy had said he'd buy it if they could demonstrate it in and out of his farm. Apparently the amphibs didn't take well to the rough strip/field and the things toast.

If anyone can confirm or disprove I'd appreciate it.

I believe it was nosed over on a rough grass strip. Damage was limited to some broken floats (front wheels and tips) and a prop strike.. which I'd assume would have killed that mighty purty engine

According to Canadian Aviator Nov/Dec 2005 T-Moose C-FDBN cartwheeled while attempting to land in a field on October 12. TSB is investigating and as yet has revealed no mechanical problems. One passenger suffered serious injury and the aircraft received substantial damage.

On the twin otter we flight planned about 275 - 300 lbs per hour for the -20 and about 300 for the -27.

That's about right for the -20, we had it pegged at 30 gallons per hour in the TBeaver.
