try cycling thru the FBO for 6-7hrs of sleep and a shower.. Then live out of your car.

Honestly folks, this country is abounding with 6 figure jobs, and the lot of you are running to take a 35-40k job. It's complete nonsense.

There is a whole world out there.

Sheesh, you sound like my dad.
With someone just starting at encore/jazz/porter, where would you direct them to a 6 figure flying job? Don't say another industry can pay that much. Why would someone put all this time and effort, deal with all the BS of getting to a regional just to up and quit just because a pipefitter makes more? It would take more than a starting salary for most to leave.

Not trying to defend the absolute crap pay pilots get. I honestly think of it as a safety concern. Imagine telling your passengers that the pilot flying had 3 hours of sleep last night because they could hear their roomate trying to save his marriage in their paper thin wall basement apartment. Or that their diet consists of ramen noodles because they can't afford to spend one hour of per diems on a singular apple.

I am an optimist however that if you stick with it, the money will come.

For example, if Encore's take-home pay is 3000$ a month how can one live a decent lifestyle when renting a 1 bedroom apartment is 1500$-2000$?
Simple. Work two jobs and drive 90 minutes each way.

Lots of those comments here are not directed at people currently at the regionals, it's directed at people contemplating entering the industry, or trying to decide if they should go the airline route while making over 100k flying a king air in a comfy spot.

As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

I stand corrected! 100k start for a rotational King air captain postion is not too bad, downright amazing for someone who wants that lifestyle. It's all supply and demand it looks like.
