Re: Another casualty FlyBe stopped ops
All the headlines are stating that Flybe is a victim of the coronavirus, which is utter nonsense. Flybe has been in dire financial straights for some time, and was on the verge of collapse around the time Thomas Cook went under. Flybe has gone under, because an emergency bridge loan application to the UK Government was rejected.
Coronavirus or not, Flybe was circling the drain - they may have gotten the loan had the global travel market not have been depressed, but odds are they were done in short order regardless.

My parents flew on them last year somewhere.. and said the plane was 1/4 full.
Maybe that had something to do with it too..
It also only cost like $50 to fly across Europe.
Perhaps the days of uber cheap airline tickets in Europe are coming to an end. I never really understood the economics of it.

The BBC article specifically points out that covid-19 played a minor part in Flybe's demise. I haven't seen any articles that stated it failed because of the virus, including the linked article above.
