Does anyone know how many hours a year a typical West Wind pilot flys if they are based in Saskatoon.

Close to 1200 Hrs. for 705. ( No sh*t)

Do the 703/704 guys fly that much.

For 703, the mail run pilots might do 400 hrs.
For 704, the Jetstream pilots will probably do 700 - 900 hrs. and the King Air pilots probably 600 - 800 hrs.
That would be my guess. Word on the street though is that they are getting busier in '06.

Thanks for the info, I really like to research a company before I ask them for a job. I have asked in several post on this Forum about West Wind and I believe I have it straight.

705= 1200h a year
704= 600-900h a year
703= 400h a year

Pay is low but morale is high
Low turnover but expanding
Cessna's do bag runs, Jetstreams do Sched to Regina, King Airs do Charter, and the ATRs do the mine work. No medivacs

Overall really good place to work and Saskatoon is a great city.

If any of this is way off base let me know. I am currently flying 200's and Cessna 400 series aircraft and would like to work for them.

I am flying the ATR in Europe, and I would like to come back to Canada.

I think pay is around 55k starting. Seriously they fly between 1000-1200 hours a year and have to watch times pretty closely some months. Rarely hire direct captains on anything except pistons or a KA200 if desperate. Morale is sliding pretty quick there. From what I hear there having record profits, but the pilots are just working harder - it's all flat salary. I think they are on call 5 days a week, with no pay on weekends and an open schedule.

you would be a fool to work for this company. You are right, the pilots in the 705 division work like dogs, and pay is maxed out at 85,000. From what I understand, moral is incredibly low in every division unless you are an office worker. Some shifts are 15 hours, schedule changes every day. I was told that they only get two uniforms and work 5 days per week. I was also told that they were too cheap to pitch in for an employees retirement party, even though he was the first and only guy to ever retire from that company. They are basically a stepping stone for pilots but if you want to fly there, I understand there will be lots of people leaving this year

It makes me chuckle to hear whining about maxing out at $85 000 to live in Saskatoon when I know some of the same people want to take a job making $40 000 based in Toronto. Yes, the shirt thing might be a little irksome, but look at the bigger picture. We have the luxury of whining about shirts and having to work four days a week when lots of others are flying for companies with shady maintenance and pressure from management to get out the door.
I've probably just made some troll's day, but oh well. Any job is what you make it.

Does anyone know what they like to see for requirements for direct entry captains for the 200?
