Sounds like Swoop CEO Steven Greenway is gone. I wonder what that means ...

Haha I’m certainly not a millennial and if you can’t understand what was written age isn’t your issue.

Re: #Swoopprez Out!
An internal memo was sent out to all swoop employees. (I don’t work at Swoop, but have seen the memo).
Re: #Swoopprez Out!
As an outsider I am curious why it is positive news? Because of him or because it is Swoop?

Re: #Swoopprez Out!
When he arrived here he (apparently) thought pilots could share hotel rooms on overnights to save cost. That's the type of mentality he brought, and the reason it's positive new.
Oh, and "we don't need westjet".... Even though they pay your salary.

Eurowings LCC carrier shutting down...Swoop next?
The company said it was ceasing operations for its Germanwings brand, speeding up a move already decided before the crisis. Its Eurowings low-cost division would retire 10 Airbus A320s, while its SWISS, Austrian Airlines and Brussels Airlines group members would also reduce their fleets, in the case of SWISS by foregoing delivery of already ordered aircraft.

WestJet and Swoop really have nothing in common with Lufthansa and GermanWings.

Re: #Swoopprez Out!
Usually CEOs who have been asked to depart the fix don’t leave with empty pockets and they seem to resurface at other companies/organizations in due course. Nothing new or strange here and everything else normally carries on.

Re: #Swoopprez Out!
Why would a low cost carrier, with good cash reserves, shut down in a time when people are going to be wanting to travel at a lower cost than ever before?
Re: #Swoopprez Out!
With a market looking at best case functioning at 80% of pre crisis levels I do not see the necessity nor complication of an LCC division.
AC will have to revisit Rouge. ONEX will have to revisit SWOOP.

Re: #Swoopprez Out!
Possibly but I disagree. In a situation where people want to travel but have less cash than before the low cost carriers do better, not worse.
Also with all the working at home (and companies discovering that maybe video conferencing is better than sending employees in person) its likely business travel will take a hit. In that situation a company like Swoop will be more important to mother corp than it was before.

Re: #Swoopprez Out!
You guys let your hate for swoop blind you.
SG might be out but CD is filling his shoes ASAP.
The execs have made it clear that swoop isnt going anywhere.
Like others have mentioned, people will be looking at price when it comes time to travel.
When sh*t started hitting the fan in March, swoop was having significantly higher load factors than westjet.

Exactly.
It's the international growth (787's) of WJ that's probably going to take a hit for a couple of years. The low cost part is probably going to see good growth figures.

As long as there is cargo to move around the globe I'd rather think the 737 will take the hit.Launchpad1 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 08, 2020 2:40 pm Exactly.

Yea... How so? Because unless you are within the first half of people that got hire at Westjet, you'll probably end up on the CEWS and EI...Yycjetdriver wrote: ↑Sat Apr 11, 2020 5:23 amGood time to be at Encore?
