AC is starting flights out of YTZ June 21 i believe.
Nope.
Thanks, I’ll call AC management and tell them to cancel the flights.
Try booking an AC code flight out of YTZ prior to July 20.

Maybe next time you will believe me.

Don’t worry. Not trying to be snippy. I only posted it because I knew it was the case.

No idea if July 20 YTZ start date will stick. Should know in 2 weeks. Regardless, AC will not start up unless Porter is starting up. Perhaps best guidance then would be to see if Porter updates its startup date.

According to the AC website, they haven't sold a single (assigned) seat on any of the flights on the 20th.

It looks like Porter is now stating it can no longer operate profitably out of the island.

Gee, PAH didn’t seem to mind cashing the big cheque from Nieuport several years ago. Seller’s remorse?

God I hope they don't get screwed. We need more competition and they are a good company

Agreed. Definitely looking like the E175-E2 is for them to restart under a new entity in YYZ where it's apparently cheaper. In the end, hopefully this all works out for the best for the Porter folk.

Either way, there is no expansion at the island without jets. A switch to YYZ makes sense.

I'm afraid Porter will have a tough go of it once they leave the "safety" of CYTZ. I'm sure both AC and Westjet will bring out the big guns if deemed necessary in response to any perceived threat.

Seems they moved their starting date to August 3:

"Our flights will now restart August 3
Porter Airlines is deferring its resumption of flights until August 3 due to ongoing COVID-19 travel restrictions.

We want to see our planes in the sky as soon as possible and are actively working to prepare for our resumption of service. However, the ongoing uncertainty presented by government travel restrictions, including border closures, is impacting our ability to operate flights. We are closely watching developments and know that Porter will be an important part of providing people with travel options as the economy recovers.

Porter is preparing to introduce enhanced health and safety measures for its return to service. Details of these initiatives will be announced closer to when flights restart, so that plans are as closely aligned with the latest public health recommendations as possible.

To provide flexibility and give travellers peace of mind when purchasing for future travel, Porter is waiving change and cancellation fees on all fares booked between today and August 3. This also applies to Porter Escapes vacation packages."

It is startup after Labour Day.

Do they really, really and for true, mean it this time?

I don't blame them for it really, but by god, they've pushed this date back so many times now, I'm not putting any stock in it until I actually see them flying.

It will be Sept 08.

And Express will start up the same day out of YTZ (AC website currently shows Sept 07).

YTZ infrastructure will take some planning to get up and running.
