ONLY IN LA: American Airline’s Airbus A321 Near Miss with a Jetpack near LAX
GLOBAL NEWS

Tower, American 1997. We just passed a guy in a jetpack,” the pilot reported.
“OK, thank you,” the air traffic controller replied. “Were they off to your left side or right side?”
“Off to the left side, maybe 300 yards or so, about our altitude,” the pilot said.
A SkyWest Airlines pilot chimed in to corroborate the claim a few seconds later.
“We just saw the guy passing by us in the jetpack,” he told the tower.
The air traffic controller can then be heard warning a JetBlue flight about the unexpected aerial visitor. “Use caution, person in a jetpack reported 300 yards south of the LA final (approach) at about 3,000 feet, 10-mile final,” he said.
“We heard and we are definitely looking,” the JetBlue pilot said, before adding: “Only in L.A.”

Re: American Airline’s Airbus 321 Near Miss with a Jetpack Flying person over LAX
Who is the government to tell me if I can and where I can fly a jet pack? It should be a choice. You fools, sheep, brainwashed by the government, being controlled, morons who believe that flying objects around busy airspace creates a hazard! Pfffft. What idiots, show me the evidence? Where's the "science"? If you want to take precautions, following the law, and not fly your jetpack in busy airspace, fine, don't. I'll argue for your right to take precautions. But It's my jetpack, I'll fly it if I want to, be dammed the consequences for everyone else. I care not if my selfish actions have any impact on everyone else's well being.

At least he had the right of way as compared to the airliner that came across the guy in a lawnchair lifted by balloons.

You spent way too much effort on that

Haha ... I guess the Jetpack’s Pilot could argue that he had the right of way because he was the less maneuverable craft.
The issue is that he/she/it was flying in a Class Bravo airport ... NORDO ... without ADS-B or Mode C Xponder...and without any Clearance.

Well I think that clears up who the pilot was walking around Calgary the other day with two masks on. One covering as normally worn and the other covering the forehead down to the nose with two eye holes cut out.
