A better question would be where are all the *passengers* going to come from to fill the seats? How many airlines do we have in Canada chasing a limited number of passengers in the country?schnitzel2k3 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 28, 2022 1:10 pm That is a great question. I'm not sure what airlines need to maintain a full schedule, but my best guess would be 8-10 pilots per aircraft, necessitating 500-800 new hires. That would be my best guess looking at it from the outside in anticipating reserve coverage.

With the amount of bad press for WS and AC, I imagine from them, if Porter can stay competitive with pricing and keep the seats filled.mmm..bacon wrote: ↑Mon Aug 29, 2022 7:07 amA better question would be where are all the *passengers* going to come from to fill the seats? Can't sell the back though if the front is empty.

I assumed 4-6 and 500-800 pilots just for this wow! I’m curious where are they going to get them from?schnitzel2k3 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 28, 2022 1:10 pm

Any updates for hiring minimums for Q and future ground school intake? How long from application to phone call?
Thx in advance

Any insight in regards to the next Q ground schools and their frequency?
Got my interview tomorrow was wondering, if successful, when I can expect a GS date.
Thanks all

Have anyone of you applying from the Porter mentorship program get any response from the company if so, how much time did it take

Anyone have an idea of what kind of hours they're currently hiring at for people not in the mentorship program?

Re: New Hires
Porter has a minimum requirement of 1000 hours for the Q. Seen a wide range of new hires from 1000 to 2000-2500.iamnumber1pilot wrote: ↑Mon Oct 24, 2022 11:45 am Anyone have an idea of what kind of hours they're currently hiring at for people not in the mentorship program?

I can confirm that the most current revision of Porter Flight Operations Administrative Guide "FOAG" (in other words T&C) is the following:
Entry Level FO: 1000 Total Time, with ATPL or IATRA
Additionally:
" Any pilot candidate hired through the Destination Porter Program, or any pilot candidate with 1500 hours or less, or has limited multi-crew IFR experience will undergo a pre-hire simulator evaluation unless deemed unnecessary by the Chief Pilot or Assistant Chief Pilot, Training. Additionally, they will be required to undergo Enhanced Initial Line Indoctrination.
Enhanced Line Indoctrination includes:
• 60 sectors of Line Indoc (may be reduced to 40 sectors in accordance with Company Training Manual);
• a progress flight check every 20 sectors of Line Indoctrination via a written report to the Assistant
Chief Pilot, Training;
• five landings (at least 2 with a flap setting of 35°) at an airport other than CYTZ prior to landing at
CYTZ for the first time; and
• 10 successful CYTZ landings
That being said, prior to COVID, and the hiring boom in the last 7 years it was much higher: ATPL, 3000 TT, 500 MPIC

Anyone did an interview lately? When do they normally send a PFO email after an interview?

Re: New Hires
I applied in May/did the initial video interview and just got asked to submit an updated resume this week (and instructed to update them with milestones like 800, 1000, and 1500 hours). Not sure if that means I’m part of the program now or not, but to answer your question, it took about 6 months to get a response. Hope this is good news!Aspiredtofly wrote: ↑Sun Oct 23, 2022 11:02 am Have anyone of you applying from the Porter mentorship program get any response from the company if so, how much time did it take

Re: New Hires
I haven't got an interview yet but they messaged me for a new resume as well. The FO listing ended yesterday. Been 2.5 months since I applied. Couple coworkers with much lower hours have been picked up so I wonder if my CV just sucked.yowflyer23 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 01, 2022 4:03 amI applied in May/did the initial video interview and just got asked to submit an updated resume this week (and instructed to update them with milestones like 800, 1000, and 1500 hours). Re: New Hires
Would Porter hire you with only single engine turboprop time (i.e. PC-12, C208 SPIFR, etc) or is it necessary to get some MIFR time?
