Flight training and Covid 19
Hello out there and hope everyone is doing well.
I’m trying to get a better picture of the business of flight training and covid 19 . I see some schools have suspended discovery flights while others have not. Some schools are not taking on new students until the career path students finish. Other schools are operating normally.
So training in general and discovery flights for the most part are running normal .
Can some of you instructing in the business give us an idea on how your school is running?
Appreciate all the comments and fly safe

Re: Flight training and Covid 19
This would highly depend on where an FTU is located, and the restrictions in place there. You'll need to be more specific.
I can at least tell you that Brampton has suspended all discovery flights, and training of non-career students.

I will dance the sky on laughter-silvered wings.

I’m curious about the rest of the country as well .

I’m an instructor at a school in south western Ontario. We are currently operating relatively normally, however with far greater safety precautions and screening taken into effect. We are adjusting our operations as required with regards to public health guidelines and will continue to do so (orange, yellow, red zone etc). About 95% of our students are career oriented as well.

It sounds like the majority of flight training is career oriented and not for leisure. I’m assuming people are not taking discovery and sightseeing flights as well due to the virus. I wonder if people would want to take lessons or discovery flights just for the fun of it?
Thanks Heavy Rayn

I'm only doing an Instructor Rating but I do know Super T Aviation in CYXH, Excel Flight Training in CYQL, Calgary Flying Club in CYBW (double check on them it's not just professional students), Sky Wings at CYQF are all doing normal ops. Montair out of CYQF usually just does International students so doesn't matter anyway. Not sure about Mount Royal out at CYBW nor SATC out there. But you can always phone/check website.Civic wrote: ↑Fri Dec 04, 2020 2:42 pmThanks for the reply, I guess in Ontario where right now there is no lockdown yet like hamilton, Kitchener, Brantford and London .RedAndWhiteBaron wrote: ↑Fri Dec 04, 2020 2:12 pm This would highly depend on where an FTU is located, and the restrictions in place there.
