I've been a tenant on our airport (CYQA) for 35 years. Flew helicopters and ski planes plus plus and operated commercial ops.
The current committee that manages the airport has no pilots or even tenants on it. It was a great airport when Transport owned it but in 1995 when Transport sold it to the District of Muskoka, all hell broke loose and it's been nothing but getting worse since. It's has been a keystone cops type operation and decision after decision has killed the airport.
The latest is closing our into wind grass runway (09/27) and to not allow ski operations on other than a sanded runway (18/36). I have two customers on skis that are not allowed to fly now. The District of Muskoka that owns the airport now has kept the latest news as hushed as possible. I never even got a notice that there was a plan to close the runway and to not allow any ski ops. We are now told if we operate with skis on the areas we used to use (for 34 years) we will have a cadors issued. Nice to work with this airport manager and committee. Wish we could get some serious assistance to fight this decision. Getting too old and too tired to fight.
Not sure why I am telling you this but I'm so pissed off I had to vent and talking to the District of Muskoka is well, kiss my tcas.

Re: Airport mismanagement
Sorry to hear that ruddersup, it sure is a nice airport you operate at.
Did they specify how they would cadors you or your clients? What regulation would you be violating?
Do you know the reason for prohibiting ski ops?

As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

Re: Airport mismanagement
Maybe they should be reminded that CADORS reports aren’t supposed to be punishments?
DId you hear the one about the jurisprudence fetishist? He got off on a technicality.
Re: Airport mismanagement
Sadly most airport management types are non flyers.. rarely do they understand what flyers want etc.
YQA is clearly becoming a "cater to the jet crowd" kinda place. I do perhaps understand not spending thousands on snow removal etc for the 2 or 3 ski planes a yr, that said they should not prohibit them either , there is lotsa room up there.
