GA flight to Montreal
I plan to take family to Montreal from Burlington when the colors change. Hopefully in the next two months.
I've found that flying into Ottawa is the easiest followed by Quebec City and Montreal is hard.
CYUL landing fees (https://www.admtl.com/sites/default/fil ... ES_REV.pdf) look like $100 or so for a Bonanza. Is public transport difficult from the airport?
I would pay a bit more for ease of access to the subway because we have a baby and hope not to bring the carseat out of the plane.
CYHU still has fees up to $40 (not sure how much would it be) and public transit looks difficult. In this case I hope Uber can come to CYHU and we'll need to lug around a carseat. We had a bad experience last year in Neuville/Quebec where no taxi or uber would come to us after sunset so I hope to avoid that too.
What do you guys use to visit Montreal?

You are joking right?
I mean there was a time I was in college surviving off a hot plate and KD, and to fly home I would book the 6am rather than the 10 am because it was 30 dollars cheaper... even though I didn’t want to wake up early and the 10 am was more convenient. For some reason getting the cheapest price was so important... that was a case of beer!
Looking back I can’t believe I lived that way to save a few bucks
If you are planning a trip, and have money for all things involved, are you really going to inconvenience yourself a stupendous amount to save a hundred bucks on fees? FFS! You are considering YOW? Seriously? YUL will be easy! Get er done!

Check out this thread. viewtopic.php?f=54&t=139385
Lots of good info about YUL. Bottom line, super easy.
Hope this helps.

montado: Chill out man, just discussing options here. I've been to several airports and the ease with which you can get to the downtown is different. Thats why I'm asking questions on an aviation board. CYRO makes access to Ottawa downtown nice and easy. CYUL isn't that easy to Montreal downtown.
PAJ: That thread was very helpful, thank you.
I just did call Aeroshell FBO and they said landing ($220) plus $95 a night FBO fee with no fuel discounts. So I'm looking at $400 plus HST plus fuel at CYUL, unless other FBOs are better.
Saint Hubert is looking much better now with $32 Uber ride each way to the Biodome. Saint Hubert it is, unless there's an even more convenient airport for Biodome/downtown Montreal.

I remember looking into this a couple of years ago......CSS3 was one I was looking at. It's on the west side of Montreal and right off the highway. It might come down to where in Montreal you want to go. Keep us posted on what you decide on and how it goes, sure will be nice to to some travelling soon!
Re: GA flight to Montreal
CSS3 was in poor condition when I landed there back in 2016. I posted about it in another thread last year.

Ouch. Certainly makes up my mind whenever I might go there.ghazanhaider wrote: ↑Tue Mar 16, 2021 10:53 am montado: Chill out man, just discussing options here. How close is YHU to the Metro?

Re: GA flight to Montreal
I remember the overnight fee being somewhere in the $75 range but that was a few years back. $220 for a landing fee seems really high. I remember that being in the $50 range for a GA a/c. You might want to double check with ADM. I did a quick search and its listed as $48.59. No phone number but there are email contacts at the bottom. https://www.admtl.com/en/business/finan ... tical-feesghazanhaider wrote: ↑Tue Mar 16, 2021 10:53 am

CSS3 is super GA friendly but as mentioned above the runway is really rough. Its also at least a 45 minute drive to downtown but call them if you are interested and perhaps they can arrange a rental car. CYHU maybe is your best bet but I never landed there so can't offer any advice.
Let us know what you decide and how you make out.

Re: GA flight to Montreal
CYHU. St.Hubert is a great option. I have used them a few times in the past. I think the last time now it was in 2017 so i could be out of date it was 30 bucks (i think) for a night tiedown at Air Richelieu and a 32 dollar landing fee that i got later in the mail. There is a subway stop a short way away. We walked it one morning when we couldn’t get an uber at 6 am it wasn’t that far of a walk. EDIT. sorry i just checked Google maps and it’s 10k. It seemed shorter!!
If you are so inclined there are other fancier ones on site as well HUB or H-18 and another one offer more services but I don’t know the prices.

Re: GA flight to Montreal
St-Hubert is your best option if your destination is the Biodome and downtown Montréal. Short UBER ride to the metro. Landing fee under $15 for a single a/c (under 2000 kg) and about $25 if you require Canada Customs. I would favour FBOs on the south side. The one on the north side is more for large a/c.

Re: GA flight to Montreal
It looks like the right airport right now. I'd be arriving with a baby and was hoping to not drag a carseat with us. CYUL apparently isn't directly on the subway line so for $300 difference it is not much better, and further.
I have a Bonanza with 3400lbs MTOW so I'd go into the second category for cyul landing fees. I calculated around $90 all in for airport/landing fees but Aeroshell said it'll be more like 200+ for landing and 95 per night for Aeroshell. Maybe they exaggerated or I can't read airport fee documents but St Hubert is still significatly better even if the fee was $30 + $30 per night.
10k walk.. if I can bring folding bikes and baby trailer

Re: GA flight to Montreal
chyu is very much a GA airport and they treat you well. I took a taxi downtown and it was reasonable. save your energy for biking around downtown!!
