321 does not get paid the transatlantic fee as they are widebody pilots. Transatlantic pay was for narrowbody (737) doing overseas.

Correct, my bad. I was looking at the premium for night flying.

Porter 195-E2 @ 80 MMG
122K to 190K for CA (12 Year Scale)
61K to 104K for FO (10 Year Scale)

Air Transat A321 @ 80 MMG
148K to 208K CA
61K to 116K FO

Sunwing 737-800 @ 75 MMG
113K to 183K
55K to 93K

Flair 737-800 @ 80 MMG
115K to 170K
67K to 95K

Swoop 737-800 @ 75 MMG
100K to 127K (3 Year Scale)
54K to 74K (3 Year Scale)
…and continuing the math…Porter’s 195’s have 132 seats. All the rest have at least 50% more seats. Bigger planes…bigger paychecks right? This is not apples to apples…lifestyle, schedule, company culture, upgrade speed and or better position on the list, staff travel, commuting policy, RRSP matching rate…..

Correct! Salary plays a role in the overall compensation package. And in aviation, nothing truly, is apples to apples. The trick is to figure out what works for you. All the best out there!

Are you saying these are "advantages" Porter has?? Let's see...

Lifestyle - if you want to get on the E2 you have to start on the Q. That means 2hr reserve callout to report at the island. So unless you live in mommy's basement downtown you're paying ridiculous GTA rent and dealing with Gardiner traffic.

Schedule - Swoop, Flair, and SWG all arguably have better schedules with lots of single day, high credit trips. No YTZ-YOW 5 leg min credit bs.

Company culture - does Porter have a "better" culture than WJ? Or Flair or SWG? People at those companies seem pretty happy overall. Many of them also had their jobs back alot sooner.

Upgrade speed - if you're talking about a Q upgrade sure. On the jets I'm sure it won't be any quicker than any of the ULCCs.

Position on the list - at Swoop you're on the WJ list. Again, Porter might get you a quick Q upgrade but the jets will be a different story, there will be tons of lifers ahead of you.

Staff travel - can you tell me how Porter is special in this regard?

Commuting policy - commuting sucks regardless of the company, I see why it might be necessary if you're YTZ based though.

RRSP - what's Porter's match? 4%? Then goes up 1% a year and tops at 9. That's pathetic and should figure strongly in any wage calculations. Even at Swoop you get 10% from DOH.

I dont see how you can compare them anyway. A position at Porter on the Embraer is the equivalent to flying the Embraer at Jazz.

No match if you compare them to the bigger boys.

In addition to the years of service salary increases, does Porter also get yearly raises for COLA(cost of living/inflation) of at least 2% like most airlines?

Used to be the average of the last 10 years CPI.
The Pilot group did get "COLA" bumps pre-covid; 2018/2019/2020, all under 2% (1.64 /1.57 / 1.65)

Next forecast "COLA" will be 1.5% in 2024, nothing planned for 2022/2023

If Porter unionized, they might just get some better COLA.

These are good rates that Porter has introduced and will be helpful for the industry too. If only Encore could do the same and improve its compensation on its own merit, instead of WestJet, the industry would be better off.

The Swoop rates would have been much better and had been up to year 12 if the union negotiated at its start, not as high as mainline, but better than what they ended up being after arbitration. Going forward, they will likely be similar to Sunwing.

…yes…just not at first for at least a (guessing) year of ops. Current delivery schedule is 30 tails in first year. Base transfers are via system seniority, and upgrades are a mix of base seniority and master seniority, which alternates equally.

I've heard rumours of YUL and even expanding out west. Like YYC of YVR. But these are just rumours!
