I had posted an ad. on this site and received only two replies, one from a non licenced pilot, the other an airline pilot that I was able to meet in person, my notice was " Fly for cost of fuel" I expected more replies from pilots in the CYXU area, The advertisement read that you fly my aircraft a amphibian aircraft, log the hours but pay for the fuel only, a great opportunity for any pilot, For some reason my advertisement is no longer on this site, Did the administrator's not think it was a real, offer! on any account if your interested the offer still stands. So contact me. Reddishlaser@yahoo.com, cheers

Re: Only two replied
Maybe there aren’t that many float pilots near London who read here and who are looking for a plane to fly.
DId you hear the one about the jurisprudence fetishist? He got off on a technicality.
Re: Only two replied
Are you able to provide training for the float endorsement?
Re: Only two replied
I would love to fly your airplane but I live North of Toronto

I saw your ad. I would have taken you up on it, but I'm in the wrong part of the country.

Not in his own plane, if you’re paying for the fuel, no.

Re: Only two replied
The plane is not to be used for training purposes under current insurance conditions,, pilot must have a landplane or seaplane rating, or both ratings to land on land or water,

Re: Only two replied
To fly an amphib off of land or water, you must have a seaplane rating as an amphib meets the definition of a seaplane: “ seaplane means an aeroplane that is capable of normal operations on water; (hydravion)”
The licence is determined by the class of airplane you want to fly, not what you intend to, or actually do, do in it.

Re: Only two replied
I don't want this to sound flippant but how many pilots do you need? The second response you mentioned seems like an acceptable candidate if they have a float rating, why not go with them?
Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not after you!
Re: Only two replied
Well I thought it was a nice offer. If we weren't thousands of miles apart, I'd be happy to take you up on it.
As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

Re: Only two replied
To be honest, I don't read the classifieds here. It is a generous offer, and would love you take you up on it.
I am not float rated, but I don't believe that prevents one from taking off and landing on wheels in an amphib?

Re: Only two replied
So you want me to pay your fuel costs to ferry your aeroplane, and pay my own travel, meals, and lodging? Why would anyone do that? Do I need to wash and wax the plane too? Do you want me to pay for the oil too, or is that covered?
Re: Only two replied
I think he is offering for someone to enjoy flying his plane locally if they cover the costs. Sounds fair to me, he could offer it to rent. Hell if I have to wash it, so be it. It would be worth it to experience a different type new to me.

Tried to e-mail you and it bounced back. Tried to send you a private message and it doesn't look like it went through either.

Re: Only two replied
What type of amohib is it? Why do you want others to fly it? What are the insurance requirements?
Re: Only two replied
I do. The aircraft is currently sitting, not being flown. We all know that is the worst thing for it. This also gives someone the generous offer of reduced flying costs in return. Makes sense to me.

Re: Only two replied
Yeah, it is a good idea if that's the case. I just have no idea how insurance would work. Although insurance companies allow me to check pilots out on all manner of land and sea planes, they won't let me go solo without a checkout. I don't see how anyone would qualify for the insurance requirements.
Re: Only two replied
I've also seen policies where they cover any pilot while accompanied by a named pilot. Oddly I flew my old plane a few times after selling it, the
new owner's policy covered "Any pilot approved by owner."

Re: Only two replied
I've seen that on common types (C150, etc.) but not for odd types or floatplanes.
