It's an R44 and was doing crop spraying when it hit a power line. The owner says the pilot is okay.

Hopefully the pilot makes a speedy recovery and gets back flying again soon.

Wires are one of the biggest dangers to helicopters, the article states it happened near powerline Rd. So I would guess there to be a power line around. Those wires are easy to see, it's all the other ones strewn about that catch you. Spraying is inherently dangerous to begin with.

It looks like from the pictures that the fuel tanks did not rupture and explode like so many before. Glad Robinson added those bladders.

Looking at Google maps there’s a major high-tension power line running parallel to Powerline Rd along the south side and a smaller rural power line running parallel on the other side of the road. Maybe lost sight of the smaller one while looking at the big one?

Wires are indeed something pilots need to pay strict attention to in these areas. I have several acquaintances over the years that have befallen tragedy due to letting their guard down in a critical moment. This was avoidable but nonetheless a teachable moment for the rest of us.
