2:37 in the video you can see another plane fly low under the news chopper.

Good thing the 407 is so expensive that most peasants can’t afford it. Try doing that on any other road in the GTA!

Re: 407 Landing
I assume that was a flight school plane? The first thing they do is usually paint over company logos. Remember the Air Canada crash in Fredericton? The first thing they did was take a couple gallons of white paint and a roller out and paint the tail.

They have a interview now on CTV with one of the crew.

Maintenance induced failure? Carb ice? Water in fuel? The possible list is endless.
Re: 407 Landing
Duct tape aside, good job the pilot.

Is the TSB/TC gonna investigate? Or too small for them?172_Captain wrote: ↑Wed Oct 27, 2021 3:51 pm Well, that’s an incident. He’s basically barred from any job that asks if you’ve ever had an incident or an accident. /s

Lol kinda narrow sighted. Depends on the fault. Was he at fault because he didn't take the necessary precautions or was it a problematic aircraft.172_Captain wrote: ↑Wed Oct 27, 2021 3:51 pm Well, that’s an incident. Only becomes a problem when TSB deems you to be the ultimate factor that lead to the incident occurring.
Re: 407 Landing
No, not according to the TSB it isn’t, and who else’s definition are you going to use?
An aviation incident is an occurrence resulting directly from the operation of an aircraft having a maximum certificated take-off weight greater than 2250 kg or of an aircraft being operated under an air operator certificate issued under Part VII of the Canadian Aviation Regulations in which…

Note that the story (and police interview) reports there was no damage. No way! If you watch the video closely, you can see that the left wing hit the median when it went over it. The aircraft yawed to the right as the wing slid on cement wall.
FYI - operated by the Caribbean Flying Club out of Grimsby. Never heard of them. Apparently a new operation and I guess they are concerned about their reputation (thus the duct tape.)

Did it actually hit or slide over the median?Stephen Szikora wrote: ↑Wed Oct 27, 2021 6:35 pm Note that the story (and police interview) reports there was no damage. No way! 1400Z METAR at CYTZ, about 10 miles away was :
27/10/2021 14:00-> METAR CYTZ 271400Z AUTO 01008KT 340V040 9SM FEW160 12/07 A3001 RMK SLP164=
That makes the relative humidity a very reasonable 70%. I was in the (dry, fabulously clear) air about five miles away at the same time, and there was no hint of icing, and, I understand he was climbing out after takeoff, with the throttle wide open, so not a lot of tendency for icing there.
I think it was variable tailwinds on final, personally.

Re: 407 Landing
North around Markham/CYKZ lower level take-off flight path is not same warmer/dry air at 1300-1400z as you are referring to at the south end / above GTA.
This forced landing sequence begins 15 nautical miles (27 kilometers) north of CYTZ. North end of GTA.

Re: 407 Landing
You do understand that these Weather Underground stations are installed and run by anyone, without certification of any kind and not necessarily accurate or reliable? Mine has a bad humidity sensor that’s reporting 99% all the time. I haven’t gotten around to replacing it yet. So that 96% relative humidity is suspect at best.
