Flight planning resources for the Rockies
Hi all,
are there any weather sources for planning low level-ish flights through the Rocky Mountains? Yes there are multiple weather stations spread all across the mountains, but I was wondering if there was any more detailed weather forecasts dealing with winds close to the ground etc.
For example, Switzerland and Austria have a system where they generate weatherforecast for specific VFR routes through the alps. The VNC shows VFR routes as well West of Calgary. Are there any specific forecast like that? I couldn't find anything on Nav Canada, but then again, it's been a while that I've flown VFR through them.
Thanks,

Click on "VFR route forecast", but it isn't available at this time of year, and I think it only gives the weather from Hope to Lytton and Princeton.
Also, windy.com is quite accurate for forecasting winds.

I'll try that in March, thanks!

You may find these webcams of use before/during the trip.
Good luck.

BC highways also has a lot of webcams in various passes that can be helpful

Windy (.com or the app) is a good source of cams throughout BC and they put both Aviation cams and highway cams all on a convenient format on a map.
