Never personally had to use loans for any of my licenses, however I know a couple people who used CIBC to get some funds and that it worked well and wasn't a massive pain to set up. That being said if the school your going to offers student loans that's usually the best route if you need funds. Better terms then most bank loans etc.

Re: Funding
Student Aviation Financing out of Alberta is a lender that specifically loans out for flight training and I have heard about them for a while, mostly good.

Outside of a degree program like Algonquin, if you do a structured (Or semi-structured at least) program with a FTU that's a registered private career college, they'll write up a letter describing the program that may or may not be accurate, (Hey, they want your business and money.) and most banks will give you a Student Line of Credit based on that.
Best of luck!
