flight training in US

Post by futurepilotTO »

Hi. I would appreciate your help. I spent hours trying to find answers online and talking to flight schools. I did about 25-30 hours in Toronto to get PPL. Then life happened and I couldn’t continue. Now I want to go to a warm US state like Florida, or Nevada and get the license. I need to get TSA clearance which I think shouldn’t be a big deal.
I am a Canadian citizen. I talked to quite a few schools (part 61 and 141). They all gave me different information about visa requirements. Some told me that I only need TSA clearance, others told me to get I-20. One school tried to convince me that I need F1 visa  One more thing: some of them told me that I cannot study at 61 section school.

Can you please help me. Thank you.
